    IAC hissing

Bloddy hell. Other stuff I need to think of (facepalm).
  2. nes138

    IAC hissing

My other 304 here has a new IAC and TPS on it. So it whacked that on and seams to have stopped. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GBvK5ASR2dQqjVrv8 That’s the thermo fan you can hear now and not the IAC. Although every minute or so the engine makes a rattle. Wondering if there’s enough oil in it...

    IAC hissing

Yeah I think I’ll go with that. Even lengthening it slightly didn’t really change it and this is warmed up. https://photos.app.goo.gl/yR76HYbyoYadaCHJ9

    IAC hissing

Or go all the way down under the front bar?? https://photos.app.goo.gl/QMjaAwgaUzGDTdHS8

    IAC hissing

Thanks EYY. Closest I can come up with is this. BUT I am using a spare MAF as a joiner in the middle and the air con compressor is right below it and lines need to go to the fire wall. Makes that cruise control wire awkward too. https://photos.app.goo.gl/mJyGrhFEdbN2iPRr5 Or maybe even mounted...

    IAC hissing

Wouldn't it be 1.5x the diameter of the TB and = 4.5" long?? That'd make a lot more sense or you'd need one of those 4wd pipe running up the A pillar;) Although you may be right. Found this on another forum. Here is what the GM crate engine control system instructions have to say about it...
  7. nes138

    IAC hissing

And the pipe gets longer.... You mean the direction (as per the flow arrows) or it has to be up a certain way aswell?
  8. nes138

    IAC hissing

Godammit... Why aren't cars easier! Think I'll jam it through the bay wall to the wheel well then, At least I'll have cold air induction then. Just have to work out how to avoid getting water in it o_O
  9. nes138

    IAC hissing

I assume I can't get a MAFless tune VATS removed chip off the shelf either :(
  10. nes138

    IAC hissing

You mean this one???? https://forums.justcommodores.com.au/threads/nes138-room-for-improvement.225896/page-3 Or do you have time to go over 40 pages of stuff?? http://forum.fefcholden.club/index.php?topic=21578.760 Haven't updated in quite some time and haven't done much as I am moving round...

    IAC hissing

You mean MAF sensor? It's too close? Goddammit, I shoe horned the dam thing in as it was.
  12. nes138

    IAC hissing

got her in finally and warmed up. The IAC hisses something fierce. This video was taken when it was warm and it was still hissing (or is it sucking?) slightly. I did some quick research and didn’t come up with much. Engine bay is not finished ;) https://photos.app.goo.gl/iGLgvE3yhAviK3WX7

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

Fixed it!! This engine is in the car that is my Avatar, an FC 1959 - the throttle cable was slightly pulled AND the vacuum pipes on the back and front were off. Runs well now although i can hear a knock now  Funny as car enthusiasts we are always chasing our tails.
  14. nes138

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

I did! Anyone experienced an engine doing this before?
  15. nes138

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

Screw that im here for the Storm!! Seriously though I’ve got no idea how it over revved. As soon as it kicked over it went to a million RPM in a second before I Sh@t my undies. I’ll have to look for vacuum tomorrow.
  16. nes138

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

I have the covers off and can clearly see the throttle cable at idle. I can stand in front of the car and start it with a remote ;)
  17. nes138

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

hmm yeah actually the one that goes from the front of the inlet manifold to the fuel regulator on the back of the drivers side fuel rail. Surely that wouldn't make it scream its head off straight away and max out the revs immediately? I've gone to Melbourne for the footy now so I can't check...
  18. nes138

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

Nope. The car is remote start and I was in the engine bay. Throttle was in idle.
  19. nes138

304 New Dizzy cap and it max revved

Threw a new Dizzy cap on VT 304 and started it and as soon as I started it, it went F#$%ing psycho. Just max revved straight up and I turned it off - What the hell went wrong??? I marked out the leads top right started at number one and worked it around the clock.

    Rear main seal direction 304

Yeah I saw that I need to trim them, that's why I think its a crank totally out job. The black neo seal looks like it slides in really well. i think it's by promaster. Similar to a gearbox seal i guess. I used loctite 515 around it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/onmA5y4KSzLeido87
  21. nes138

    Rear main seal direction 304

I’ve seen that before. Thanks. I grabbed a rope seal from bursons 460284F 7x9x150mm and it looks way to big. Has silver crap all over it too. https://photos.app.goo.gl/5YnMgf19s6hdwBwq5 Here’s the neoprene one I have https://photos.app.goo.gl/oFU1qbqXBf3D72JKA I think the rope is a whole...

    Rear main seal direction 304

These are clearer photos. I don’t know what direction they go in in. https://photos.app.goo.gl/GY48Z5Cu4Dcd9ney5 https://photos.app.goo.gl/Mb9whRNhaBvd73vq7 Otherwise I’ll just go grab a rope seal. I used this one and it chewed the **** out If it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/UJkVTvKZNY823PSb9

    Rear main seal direction 304

I seam to have a different seal.
  24. nes138

VT 304 Cammed? Can Oil go off with cold?

Thanks EYY https://photos.app.goo.gl/cVFjPRynu1Ju7sUy8 Keen to get this thing back together. Stupid question- for the cover and water pump, is the paper style gasket good enough on its own? Or do I need a sealer as well? I’ve got loftier 515 here
