    Upgrading to VY

Go for the VY V8. You'll love it. Having had both a VY V6 and VY V8 my opinion is that the V6 is thirstier than it should be for relatively poor power. The V8 uses what I'd expect a V8 to use but it goes when you want it to. If you're looking at Calais and aren't prepared to go for the V8, at...

    Advice from the experinced

Most people in your situation start looking into cams. Under drive pulleys can cause issues with daily driving for some people as of course all of your pulley driven devices are being starved at idle revs (alternator for example). I'd go for cam though instead of mucking around with other...

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

Used Meguiars Ultimate Polish. Which is also what I used on the headlights. Seems to work on pretty well everything. Might try it on the runner seals around my windows. Some of those are looking pretty average. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

Also decided to try out the polish on some of the black plastics. Comes up quite nicely. Forget to get a before shot of the strip between the bonnet and windscreen but trust me it looked awful. Had stained blotches from who knows what, rubbed it down with the polish and now it's a nice uniform...

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

Cleaned up the headlights with some cut and polish about a month ago. Came up good but started to get a bit cloudy again so I've done them again with a couple of coats of wax to see if that does anything to protect them. They're not perfect but still a major improvement over the previous photos...

VY V6 Engine in a Vr Commodore??

    Interior trim

You pretty much summed it up. Dash and centre console won't match. But everything else should be alright. Except for the airbags as axemurderer mentioned. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gen III Holds Revs Between Gears

Couldn't find anything in search. Has anyone else experienced this with a 5.7L? When driving normally I have noticed a couple if times lately that when I take the car out of gear (to change gears) the engine holds it's revs even when my foot is not on the accelerator pedal, a couple of times it...

    Sandmans' VZ S

That is a beautiful ute mate. Well done. I love your approach. Genuine Holden wheels. Lowered properly not just slammed for the sake of it. A few well executed personal touches and take the time to keep it in mint condition is all it takes to really set it apart from the crowd. Would love to...

Need Ideas On What To DO To My VY SPAC

My honest opinion: 1. Fix the cats before anything else. It's illegal, and pointless on your vehicle. Cats are restrictive but not too the extent that they'll make any difference to an Ecotec motor. 2. Keep SS gear off your car. It just comes off looking like your trying to dress your car up...

    Which brake kit ?

What's the upgrade for? If it's only street use then option 1 would still be a significant improvement over a standard VY setup (assuming you don't have a HSV, not sure what your car is) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What car to buy!? vy manual VS. vy supercharged

I went from an auto V6 to a manual V8. Both VY series. Love the V8, and for as long as I can afford to keep filling it up (no matter what anyone says, bottom line is it costs more to run) I'm not looking back. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk

vz ss maf or mafless tune

Even on a stock car, a custom tune will perform better and consume less fuel than the factory tune. I'd expect to see better results with an OTR and MAFless tune vs standard intake with a MAF tune. But standard intake with a MAF tune is probably your best bet $/kw. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus...

    Aussieakito's VY SS Manual

That is a seriously good find mate. I have no idea how you picked that up for ten but well done. I wouldn't get too carried away with modifying the car until you get to start driving it though mate. It's a great feeling to fully appreciate the difference you feel in the car after modifying it...

Al's new VY SS *my last car for 5 years+ i swear!*

Had to do the exact same thing when I got mine. Absolutely dreadful stuff they use and they really layer it on too!! I'd prefer to just buy an honest looking car and detail it myself to be honest. Better than having to remove all the slick (they even used it in the engine bay) Looks good though...

    VZ SS manual

Even though I prefer the satin silver, the piano black does wonders for tying that head unit into the fascia. Very nice mate.

    [Other] Headlights

Unfortunately mine are now looking like that :( know of any good protectant for head lights? I want to fix mine up, but I don't want to have to do it every couple of months!

    [Other] Headlights

Yes to all three. And if I might add, I also hate the LED strips that people put on any old part of their front bumper and call them DRLs. They don't belong there, and they look awful!

VY SS with no bonnet insulation

Hi all, I've searched high and low and cannot find a photograph that I'm after. I'm looking for a shot of a VY, preferably an SS that shows the car with the bonnet open and the insulation removed. I'm considering doing it myself but it would be nice to know what it's going to look like...

dark metallic purple for a boy?

Personally, the thing that speaks louder to me is the condition someone keeps the car in and how they drive it, not what colour it is. For example. If you keep the car clean and drive around like a regular person, I'd see the car go past and think that's a nice car regardless of the colour. If...

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

The Ultimate Compound did work, and I applied it by hand. I'm a complete novice to this sort of thing so I didn't want to risk it with a buffer (can still do lots of damage even by hand from what I've seen). But I was at for hours, just doing the bonnet, slowly and carefully. And it has worked...

what did you do to your car today?

I taped off half of my bonnet and did a cut, polish, polish again, wax, wax again. Took the tape away so I could see the difference between the two halves. The sun had set by the time I was done but looks good under the garage light, keen to see it in the sun!

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

Such a nice day I've got the car under some shade and I'm going try this out. Just going to apply it by hand, see how it goes on my bonnet getting rid of some swirls and light scratches. I think this poor car has seen an automatic car wash or two. Scratchless my a#$e haha.

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

Haha, sounds like it runs in the family to drive a Holden V8. I do like the look of Red Hot/Sting Red on an SS I just prefer the rarer colours that you can't get on absolutely every model haha.

My VY SS, I Finally Got One

So true. And I'm a big fan of the body shape for the VY/VZ, some of their best work I think haha. I strongly tossed up between Hot House and Turismo for a while but, well you know how that went haha! Would also have loved a VZ Monaro in Devil Yellow, my other favourite colour but it came down to...

Swap for vy or keep vx ??? Help

Well apart from the body they're basically the same car. So whether its worth it is up to you? Is there something about the wagon that makes you like it more than your sedan? Does the wagon have lower kms? Is the wagon in better condition? If you didn't answer yes to at least two of those then...
