Warning Lights on all the time!

Had the exact same problem mate, identical symptoms. It's the abs/traction control unit it needs replacement - check on eBay there's a few guys that do it for about $200 on a return basis, otherwise Holden will sting you over $900 just for the unit.

ABS, Engine, Traction Control and Airbag Lights

Best way to find out. Next time the lights come on, unplug your ABS module and check the lights again most of them will be gone like Airbag, Oil etc but trac off, trac low, abs off, will remain. If that's the case your ABS module needs changing. Get yourself a pair on swap over basis on ebay and...

VT 5.0 warning lights appear when driving

Yeah they are different. If it is the abs module don't go out and buy a brand new one from holden($700+), there's guys on ebay and even locally that can fix it up for you for less than $200 on an exchange basis. Worked for me.

VT 5.0 warning lights appear when driving

When the lights come on next time like airbag, oil etc, unplug your ABS Module and if everything disappears but the ABS, Track Low & Track Off light still appear then it's your ABS Module that's stuffed and needs replacing.

VU VX stock headunit pin code

Yeah Holden will give you the code if you provide them your VIN I think.

    vx Commodore s pack

LSD is an option on all models other than SS and Clubbys etc. My S pack L67 is a single spinner.

    vx Commodore s pack

A bit of a hassle, not overly hard but you need the correct tools and at least a whole weekend, do it with someone that has some experience not first timers.

    vx Commodore s pack

Most likely Inlet Manifold Gasket, least likely auto cooler splitting in radiator and even more unlikely given no other symptoms are showing head gasket/cracked head. My money's on the LIM gasket.

    L67 Pulley upgrade

I've spoken to Holmart about that pulley package, he said even he reckons it's a rip off and can't remember ever selling one. The Yella Terra ones are the cheapest or maybe check out zzperformance American website, same stuff for the same engine but much cheaper.

1999 Red VT HSV XU6 Superchraged

Oh I see. I'm just curious because my car makes a considerably lounder note (stock VX L67) than my friends VY 67 also stock, you can barely hear his exhaust whereas my one is quite loud, I had a look underneath and it is a twin system 2.25' that merges into 1 at the end with Holden written on...

1999 Red VT HSV XU6 Superchraged

How does that differ from the stock L67 exhausts?
  13. Raging Bull

1999 Red VT HSV XU6 Superchraged

Yeah that's what I thought, cause from that picture the pulley looks like the stock one. What kind of an exhaust comes with the XU6s?

    Hitting Rev Limiter

I fried my old ecotec(crankshaft bearing bang!) by hitting the limiter twice.

1999 Red VT HSV XU6 Superchraged

So do these have more boost stock than the regular L67s? What other changes does it have to get it to 180? Nice car by the way.

VT 3.8 Inlet Manifold Gasket Replacement - recommendations?

Yeah get your injectors supersonic/overhauled cleaned or whatever it's called, it's worth it in my opinion. Mr. Muscle will smash the grime away and bring it back to the aluminum, it's a great product. Don't forget to bleed the cooling system properly.

VT 3.8 Inlet Manifold Gasket Replacement - recommendations?

Yeah silicon is a must when putting on the red side rubber seals, you put the silicon on the side corners and yeah I'm pretty sure it is a factory thing since there was silicon when I took my ones apart. As soon as you remove the injectors plug up the holes tight with some tissue pieces just...

The pics came out pretty bad cause my phone sucks but you can clearly see where the gasket gave way.

    MACE Enclosed CAI(Pod) general concesus?

Yeah, that's what I would have thought. Question on the noise, is the whine lounder due to more cold air induction or is it simply lounder just because theres a pod there and hence the sucking induction noise is what gives off the impression?
  21. Raging Bull

    MACE Enclosed CAI(Pod) general concesus?

Yeah I don't know about the Yella Terra one, I mean it's just a big pipe with a logo on it and you have to cut your airbox to fit right? It's also quite high in price from memory. The enclosed Pod CAI seems like the better option but also a rip off in my opinion.
  22. Raging Bull

    MACE Enclosed CAI(Pod) general concesus?

Yeah, I'm seriously considering it since I'd like to get that louder whine. I'll probably also get the 10psi pulley, should be enough whine with the pod that comes with it.
  23. Raging Bull

    MACE Enclosed CAI(Pod) general concesus?

Yeah the actual intake is what concerns me since there's no actual easy path for the air other than whatever air leaves the headlight. I guess as long as the air is cold in that region it's ok since there's a pod sucking it all in and it's a forced induction setup. I'm just not sure if it's...
  24. Raging Bull

    MACE Enclosed CAI(Pod) general concesus?

Whats the general consensus with the MACE CAI setup. From the pictures I've seen it seems like the airflow is restricted to only behind the headlight. What's peoples experience with it? Is it worth the $220?

I have some pictures that I'll put up as soon as I find my phone cable.
  26. Raging Bull

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

Yeah just check your coolant reservoir, once the oil gets in there it stays down and forms a brown sludge, it won't get back into your cooling system since it's quite a bit heavier than coolant. I first also thought that possibly the tranny oil is mixing with the coolant but my auto seemed ok...

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

Gona do it this Saturday. My mate reckons to make the most of it and get some Mr. Muscle oven cleaner and clean out the manifold to it's nice and prestine along with the throttle body and everything else. I just have to find out the torque settings for the manifold when putting it back together.

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

Yeah mate I'll try take some pics with my phone. Oh and don't ever go to Repco or any of those places, they gave me the wrong thermostat, gasket and rad cap, went to Holden and picked the proper L67 parts which were even to my surprise way cheaper than Repco. I picked up the metal LIM gaskets at...

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

I just picked up the Metal LIM gaskets from YT for $150. They had the Supercharger gasket too for $60 but I'll get that later of a mate. I will change the radiator, thermostat, LIM gasket, Super gasket, clean out the reserve tank and clean out the intake/charger as much as possible this weekend...

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

I was gonna go to Yella Terra and ask them about their metal ones? Are those the best option?
  31. Raging Bull

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

So it's the Inlet Manifold Gasket then? Or more precisely the Lower Inlet Manifold Gasket? I'll pick it up from Yella Terra then, is there any special way to drain the system of all the oil? Cheers.

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

I checked my oil dipstick and oil cap and there's no signs of any milky substances the oil appears normal colour. I think it's fairly common for this to happen with the SC6 since the Inlet Manifold Gasket is a crappy plastic POS.
  33. Raging Bull

VX L67 - Oil in Coolant & reservoir

I checked my coolant and it was very discoloured, appeared to have traces of oil in it and after checking the dip stick from the reservoir it was covered with dark oily stuff especially at the bottom. I've read crappy Inner Manifold Gaskets can cause this or maybe the auto transmission tank has...

Power steering rack leaking - needs replacement

I paid $280 for a recoed rack from Holmart and had it changed over for $120 + $35 wheel alignment. Ofcourse the idiot wreckers gave me the wrong rack so my car was up on the hoist for 2 days awaiting the proper rack(incompetent idiots) then the mechanics screwed up the O rings so it started...

    emptying transmssion fluid

My mechanic did this on my old VS. What he did was disconnect the cooler line, aimed it down into a drain pan, then right next to it he'd connect the tran oil filler drum to refill and start the engine. As the engine is running, oil is coming out of the cooler pipe and at the same time he's...

Annoying rubbing noise coming from rear

Nope still haven't solved the problem. I'll probably get it looked at next time I get a wheel alignment done, it's annoying as hell.
  37. Raging Bull

Annoying rubbing noise coming from rear

The noise isn't whiny, it's more like a grinding/rubbing sound as though there's something protruding the wheel and touching the chassis because the sound changes with speed, it's not constant, it's frequency increases with speed.

    Supercharged VT-VX S packs.

I have a VX S Super and the only thing so far I've replaced is the power steering rack which is very common on VT, VX and VYs so yeah look out for that. Other than that they're pretty solid engines.

    Elimanating Brake Shudder

Exactly right and what ****es me off most is why didn't the bloody "Brake Specialists" inform me of this, I was more than happy to buy new ones instead waste $150 on absolutely nothing, very angry about that.

    Elimanating Brake Shudder

Yeah mine were shuddering pretty bad so I went in and asked to have them machined, now I was more than happy to buy new ones if needed be but they didn't say anything and told me the shuddering would be gone after the machining. It lasted maybe 2 days and the shudder was back, steering shacking...
