    Angry Price of a tankfull

After peoples opinion on the cost of filling up ya beast.
It's crap the way politicians say they can't do anything about the price of fuel, they don't pay for their full for their Govt car, and some of them have a bloody personal driver. They get free rail or air travel(Federal Senators) when they retire (only in Australia) and a limited number of free o/s flights.
The Fed. Govt. takes something like 38c per litre plus GST, and State Govt. takes about 19c per litre plus GST, where does it all go? We are still driving on predominantly shit roads, especially in the country areas. Even if you use a fuel saver coupon on average you only save around $2.50-$4.00 per tank, and don't be fooled by companies like Coles Myer trying to get you to take up their special credit card to get extra fuel savings, if you get behind on the payments the interest rate is something like 19%, you don't save much and go deeper into debt. It's about time car enthusiasts banded together and told little Johnny to give us a break, he earns around 300K per year, he can afford petrol for his wifes car.

i agree,i'm getting highly sick of paying $20 for only 13lt's of fuel, it's stupid... i haven't filled up my tank in a long bloody time,it's just to expensive. The price of fuel is going to affect SO many business's and people. I'm curently a dole blugger and i could get a job at a factory, but it's out of town (bout a 30min drive) and i could never afford the fuel for that along with rent, bills and everything else you need to survive. It's stupid,i hate being on the dole but have to continue to be untill i find a job in town, which isn't easy around this little town... and its all because of the fuel prices... We need relief from it..and fast

Yeah, I'm going to have to think twice about how i'm getting to work. I live in the eastern suburbs, and I have a 45min drive to work in the Melbourne Docklands. And that's 45min at night time with no traffic. I work night shift. That was $50 a week in petrol on a 2.0 4cyl Nissan... I can't wait for the fuel bill on my Commodore when I get it on the road...

... perhaps I should keep cycling to to the train station. Problem is, it takes me almost TWO hours to get to work using train + bicycle. That's a solid three and a half hours spent getting to/from work. Gets me fit and whatnot, but when a weekly train ticket costs me almost $50 anyway, I'm not saving that much. That, and it tires the hell out of me cycling uphill from the train station to my house at the end of a 10hr shift. (and that's really a 14hr day when you consider travel times on either end.)

I just want to sit down at the end of a long day at work and cruise home against the morning traffic. easy run down the eastern freeway. listen to some soothing music. put the heater on... but that's probably going to cost me $90 a week. Yeah right.

    *holds head* there's no winning.

Yep, there's no doubt that we could use some much needed relief.
I average 600ks a week in my rodeo and i thank god that i don't have to fuel the thing(covered by work) so naturally i drive it everywhere i can!
I only averege a tank in my commy every month so it doesn't hurt as much.
I would get used to it boys and girls, it'll get worse, not better....

    You're right. And I've noticed a pattern.

They flog the price up to 120. keep it there for a few days, then slowly drizzle it down to 110. we go "oh, 110! a bargain!"

a public holiday comes along, they flog the price up to 130. "oh no!!" then it slowly drizzles down to 120. "oh look, a bargain!"

a long weekend comes along, they flog the price up to 140. "oh dear!". then over the next week it comes back down to 130. That's not so bad.

the queen gets older. they flog the price up to 148. "shivers!". over the next week it'll come back down to 135, and we'll be running for that "cheap" gas.

I wonder where we go from here?

    Its called conditioning!

They did it in the 70's. There was a fuel crisis back then.
And again they r doing it now. But this time it called "increase in demand" and "terrorism" and "because the sky is blue" or any other bullshit reason they can think of.

It'll keep goin up for a while. Once it peaks at say (ass pluck figure here) $2 a litre. Then they'll come out and say, we've just found new oil reserves. So fuel will drop back down to what it is now and every1 will go baa baa like good sheep and think, wow, thats so cheap!!

Its amasing how easily the general public is manipulated and fooled!!!

Let's see... sixty litres at 1.45 per litre... ... that's about ninety bucks for a tank of premium. I'd have to get the VP valued, but I rekon it'd be a close call.

I dont really care how far I go, cause Im saving 50 bucks each time I fill. . . . .

But since u asked roughly 450ks. Thats 60lts.

If I had 75 usable litres I reckon Id be getting pretty much same ks as I would on petrol.

Yes of course you can mate..

450km from a tank of gas..
500km from a tank of petrol..

Those are average figures.. And I did granny foot on the petrol, there's really not that big of a difference..

In terms of dollars per kilometre, I'm way ahead..

If you thrash the car on gas does the mileage change? Or is it similar no matter how u drive?

The worst out of a tank I've gotten is 320ks.

But still for 30 bucks I dont care!!!

I can't complain about fuel prices here yet. When I left the UK fuel was about 1 pound a litre (about $2.50) and still rising fast! Hence why most people there drive 4 cylinder mid-size cars!

Yeah...there is definately false economy with gas...

    1. Costs a few grand to get fitted
    2. Causes more wear on the car engine due to it's lack of lubricating elements

but even if you get that flashlube stuff for your top end... that shit adds to your fuel cost...and if little Johnny has his way in a few years time when you've recouped the cost of fitting gas...the price of gas will be roughly the same as petrol anyhow...but your motor will have more wear'n'tear than if you used petrol.

Like a couple of others here I'm in a catch 22 as well, I do a lot of travelling each week and whilst I could catch public transport to my main job when I do day shift I have to walk to the bus stop near home (not leaving the wagon parked at a railway station, too risky), catch a train into the city, get on another train to go out the otherside of the city and then walk 15 minutes to work, takes nearly two and a half hours, whereas driving only takes one hour maximum (20 minutes coming home if I do graveyard shifts..)

I had moved closer to work last year but then the local council put rates up again so you can't win there either

The government and fuel companies have got the average joes like myself by the b@$Ls
