Beijing Olympic Stadium

Has anyone seen the new stadium that is being built for the Beijing Olympics?

I saw it on the news this evening and all i could think was "That is the greatest eyesore i've ever seen... Seriously"

The design is supposed to look like a birds nest and contains 36kms of exposed steel. It was created by prize winning architects and was selected from a worldwide design competition. It will have a capacity of 100,000 seats for the Olympic games.

I could only find pictures of how the finished stadium will look, none of the stadium in its current form.

What do you think? Eyesore or Design excellence.

Looks like it was designed in revit, don't like it, it would suit vietnam better.

i think it's the crappiest looking stadium ever built. WTF where they thinking when they designed the stupid thing?

hmmmm..... looks like an upside down wicker basket with a hole in the bottom... lol i saw the pics of the stadium before they bent the top bits of the steel down and it looked like a half finished birds nest
