im toying with the idea of dropping a manual box into my v6 acclaim. i have a mate who works for holden and says he can get me the parts and fit them for about 4k+/- i dont really wanna spend that much however it is still cheeper than trading mine for a manual, VXs with the same feature set as mine etc r still goin for like 16-20k by the looks of it

im thinking about looking around wreckers to see if i can get parts cheeper, what i was wondering was what manual gearbox is in the v6 commodores? what clutch? is there a specific one?

what diff should i be looking out for? im guessing the tailshaft has to be changed?

now the car has cruise control so what do i have to do with this to make it compatible?

does the chip or computer have to be changed?

does anyone by odd chance have any of these parts they have swapped in their car?

im guessing the console has to be changed over also?

if i cant find any of these bits at the wreckers is there anywhere in melb that sell reco parts?

as i said, im just toying with the idea, but i really do want a manual VX

cheers

Just did this recently to my vtss.

Parts you will need,
Getrag gearbox and cross member
Duel mass flywheel, driven plate, pressure plate, release bearing.
Manual engine loom
Hydraulic clutch (master and slave cylinder)
Manual brake pedal (use existing bracket)
Clutch pedal and bracket.
Tail shaft (Can modify your own)
Gear knob and boot
Manual memcal.
Console insert is the same

Think thats about all.
Should be able to do it for under $2000

humm, can you give me any more details?

did you have to change the diff ratio, cos of going from a 4 speed to a 5 speed

what did it cost you in the end all up and did you do it yourself?

where can i get these parts for it? did you get them second hand or new? did you end up having to change the chip or anything electrical? also i have cruise, did ur ss have that?

any more information would be greatly appreciated

cheers :drink:

I still have the 3.07 diff gears in at the moment but will get some 3.9s soon.

I got the gearbox privately for $1050, it came with flywheel, clutch cross member, tail shaft, master cylinder, reservoir, manual loom. Came out of a smashed car with 40,000 kms.

The tail shaft I had to get modified to suit, used back half of auto and front half of manual. That cost about $196 balanced.

Memcal is a manual hsv chip that I got off ebay for $200 delivered.

The rest of the parts I got from the local holden dealer. Can't be bothered typing out the price of all the parts but one receipt comes to $298.15 and another $200.

So that come to about $1944.

Hope this helps
