Here are a couple of lessons I learnt, I hope they save you some grief.
- Use a bucket/ice cream container to catch the coolant that will spew out
when you disconnect the top hose. The missus/your mum will bitch
about the green stain on the driveway if you don't.
- clean ALL the old gasket off, and I mean everything. If you don't, it will
leak and you'll have to do it again. :bang: I ended up using throttle body
cleaner to dissolve the remnants of the old gasket
- use a Tridon gasket, they are sticky on the one side so you can position
it nicely on the top cover and not worry about it slipping out of place
- when you have it all back together, make sure the bleed screw is
undone as you fill it back up, it helps to ensure that there's no air
pocket preventing the coolant getting back in
- don't forget to tighten up the bleed screw before you go for a test drive.
- don't forget to bleed the system after your test drive...
Take your time, do it right and you'll only have to do it once. :yeah:
Cheers,
/DP
