If i may voice an opinion (i believe under Australian law I am entitled to do so)
The changes to the for sale sections doesnt seem to be going as well as you mods had planned. at the moment in this feedback section of JC i can see 7 threads inquiring about the delay to their posts being cleared. In the notification to the changes, you've stated it could take upto 4 days, and in these other threads you say you'll get to it when you have time.
Now what would you say is a fair response when someone says
"I posted a thread in the for sale section yesterday and i read that a mod has to approve it, fair enough. I waited but my thread didn't appear, although others did. I then realised i hadn't used the template (whoops). So i made another thread so as to abide by the rules but it still hasn't shown.
Does it just take a little longer than anticipated or have i done something wrong? I make this thread because i have no idea of the status of my sale thread."
Is this not a fair question. I dont think the poster was expecting a miracle, just some insight into the situation.
So why is it that almost every thread like this is met with the response this one did, or similar to it
For sale thread
A bit rude don't you think? Not cool JC, not cool.
The main reason i have started this thread is because i too am curious as to why it has been 5 days since i made my thread (using the template i might add) and it has not been approved.
If your going to put restrictions on something and police them...maybe there should be more thread cops to do the policing?
I know this is not a fair comparison, but maybe it'll help make my point.
What would you do if you called the police because someone was breaking into the house next door, and all the police said back was "sorry, business hours are 8am to 6pm weekdays"?
How's this for an idea. Why don't you mods let the threads get posted as they were before, then go through each thread like you are now (hopefully) and post what should be fixed. Then let JC members decide for themselves if they want to buy it.
Thankyou
I believe the changes have gone extremely well, so what if someone has to wait overnight to approve a thread, if we were charging to put goods up for sale I could see the point but it's a free service.
Basically it comes down to the ability of reading, I am not sure how much clearer we can make it, a lot of people are doing the right thing but then of course there are others who don't.
With you saying there are 7 threads in the feedback section, this just goes to show it comes back to people's ability to read, a quick glance at those threads will give them the correct answer within a matter of seconds.
I don't believe for 1 second that a thread could possibly take 5 days to be approve, ALL threads are dealt with in well under 24 hours, I would say 99% are done and dusted within 12 hours.
The moderation queue for both new threads and posts is completely empty and is done so on the majority of mornings.
Of course it is certainly possible that a correctly posted thread had been deleted, when you are selecting up to 10 threads at a time it's very easy to select the wrong one without even knowing, we are only human.
Craig's response I believe is justified, there's only soo many times you see the same thing before you come out with comments such as those, we like everyone else don't enjoy repeating ourselves and it does get a bit tiring.
One thing you forget is we all have lives and with Christmas upon us I don't expect it to get any easier.
With regard to additional mods for that specific section, I have and see no issue's at all with that happening, are you volunteering?Additional 2 mods for that section who are on at various times of the day will certainly help fill in any blanks so if there are any volunteers let me know.
At the end of the day we were wanting to clean that section up, all the info is at the users reach without having to waste time contacting someone and awaiting a reply.
Cheers
Darren
PS:
Darren...thats the type of response i think everybody should be given. calm, to the point. and open minded.
Just looking through it was approved by myself on the 16th December in the morning.

I think if people want a fast ten minute turn around, great exposure with thier adverts and what not - go to the Trading Post website, Ebay, etc.. But this is a forum, sure it could take upto 4-5 days, thats because the Moderators and admin team have lifes OTHER than the keyboard.
One day people will start appreciating mod/admin's efforts, rather than critisising.

i don't really see the necessity for so much moderation in there it's only a buy/sell section of the forum FFS why not get rid of it altogether
I revert back to my previous post here. Have you considered that the moderation and/or admin team have lives other than JustCommdores. Have you also considered that this is a completely free service. If you want instantaneous posting of adverts, you can always use trading post/ebay etc. - Pretty sure last time I checked with TP though, you had to pay
The Mod/Admin team don't get anything out of it.
if the trading post section is such a burden why even have it?

But I agree with the approval method, I used to go into some of those threads and have a very difficult time reading or getting any information from them. Atleast this way you are forced to follow the template which gets all the information out in a simple easy to read way.
Trading post is not a burden... people who constantly argue or demand things of the mods and admin are the burden.
They are getting a free service which us Mods and Admins have to commit our personal time to running it.
Best bet is probably to HTFU and STFU.
As said, approving threads is a more time consuming process than dealing with reported posts/thread.
Thus why it takes longer to approve thread.
But 95% of the time the threads are looked at and approved OR deleted within 48h.
At any one time there can be over 100members on the forums posting, while there are only a handful of Mods and Admin to keep the forum running smoothly.
Everyone really needs to appreciate this more.

Go make your own forum then if your such an expert? See how easy it is....
The admins/mods do a great job concidering what the mod to member ratio is..
Also
1. They have there own lives to deal with
2. Its a free service, you dont pay a cent so shut up.
3. Dont like the response a mod gives? Close the window
4. Agree on the HTFU & STFU, sick of people complaining over stupid shit they are given for free....
FYI the FS section is full of win, i love itso many bargains (thats why its still there lol)
Don't worry about Gopher he is here purely to whine, it's all he does.
ageed a mate and i started our own forum a few years back got 40 or so members and the 2 of us have trouble keeping up with the crap that gets posted on there this forum has 62,612 members and around 10ish admin mods they do a great job i have waited maximum of around 20hours for one of my fs threads to appear and i dont see a problem the thing is it eventually gets through if you follow the rules of posting a thread
