    Post MSN ID database

I was thinking. In the pub section there is a thread for MSN ID’s. This probably isn’t a great idea as spammers send bots off to scour the internet for emails displayed on pages. I discovered this when I used the mailto: thing in a webpage I made. Within a month I was getting spam from everywhere. I had the account for 2 years and never got spam thanks to its obscurity. Anyway, I was thinking what if you guys wrote a PHP script and a database to go with it to store everyone’s email addresses. It would make them easier to find and you could add options like search by first name, location/postcode/suburb, number of posts and username. You could even give people the option of putting in their phone number and turn it into a just commodores phone book.

I dunno. It’s just an idea.

That risk is a very serious one, especially the way some of these bots work by joining the board in question to get access to the real email addresses (some sites have fake emails for non-logged on, real when you log in)

It's a good idea though IMHO

It should be an option when you sign up or something. Just a couple of extra boxes you fill out. Either way I think something should be done about publishing peoples emails on the forum. Not everyone would be aware of spam bots and what they do.
