Rules regarding trade area posts.

Whilst I agree totally with your reasons and explanations for making the 20 post/3 months limit before being able to post in the trade areas I would like to voice my opinion if that is appropriate?

Yes the trade area could and would be and no doubt has been abused by some fly by nighters or spammers and their ilk. But the limits imposed impinge upon the ability of regular shmo's like me who truly need to find certain parts ludicrously priced new from dealerships and can only afford second hand parts.
Yes I know it is your forum and these are your rules and of course I shall always endeavour to abide by them but I just wanted you to realise that there are many genuine people in need in this forum who cannot find what they seek because of this blanket ruling. Now I am not asking for any special treatment and I understand that the few rotten apples have caused this ruling that affects the genuine many. However, might I humbly suggest that this rule be reconsidered for those genuine posters here who's posts you can freely check up on as being from genuine people in need and not one post wonders?
I value this forum highly and have learned much and even met some nice people from it in my short time here, and also dealt with some of them on parts and advice via emails or regular post. I am just limited from getting certain parts required is all because I cannot request them via a post but although this is a tad frustrating I will as always abide by this forums rules, regulations and your decisions. I just ask for maybe some tolerence of we genuine members and posters here and maybe a lessening of your stance on this matter for posters who are genuine?
Whatever, I thank you for the chance to voice my concerns and hope this forum continues on and continues to be the number one site for Commodore Owners and admirers.

having the WTB section available to any users would be good i think, but not selling rights.

its hard to determine who is genuine and who isnt, anyone can post a bunch of "useful posts"

we are happy to have people who want to use the section, your not the 1st to voice you opinion on the matter, i believe at the bottom of the trading post rules it states that people can be permitted to use the area if they dont meet the criteria, just shoot off a PM to 1 of the admins.

Following what TVR said, send a PM, but don't expect a reply back. The rules are there for a reason, you've been here less than a month, and in that sense your one of those fly by nighters. The 3 months goes extremely quickly, just hang around and make some posts (and you can still reply to for sale threads if someone is selling a part you need, as long as you don't post a WTB post in there)

as a idea or sugestion, would you prefer it so that the for sale section has limits, i.e. have it so that the actual cars for sale has the restrictions, but the wanted section has no limits, this would make it more relaxed and alow people like yourself who dont like paying the huge prices (lets face it, who does) alows them a place to atleast say hey, i need this.

Well yes of course I would agree with this, as other posters have said less likely to get the flim flam posters in the WTB section, good idea from Garth and good follow up from Hak.

theyre atleast not making any money on it, its getting their car running, thus helping them, and hopefully they come back.

if we drop the time limit on wtb, id drop the post restriction aswell, otherwise theyre just going to spam a bunch of crap til they hit 20 posts, least if they are one hit wonders, there will be less mess to clean up

If it does happen, it will only be the WTB sections. The requirements are still needed for sellers.

Maybe if we babysit them through it, so when they go to post a thread, they click "post a new thread", then get a page saying that they HAVE to use the template or their thread will be deleted.

I know that the bit is up the top but these people are newbies, that haven't been around so they havent seen the "Where the f**k is my WTB thread" thread...

Happy to see a trial of these changes. The day before these changes were made I got the parts that I was wanting from a forum member, of course, oyyyy veyyyyyy!!! But no doubt I will need more stuff in the future so thanks again for making these changes.

Part of your job is to check the post is in the right section too. If its a for sale post masked into a WTB thread like his was, delete it!
