vbulletin 4 forum upgrade TECHNICAL problems - post here

this thread is PURELY for TECHNICAL problems/glitches in the forum.

we dont care what you think about how it looks, or if you're too prissy to deal with the change, this thread is to let us know of any odd things going on with the forum, from the upgrade, something out of alignment, buttons not working, etc.

anyone posting dribble, or whinging will receive an infraction, and the post be deleted.

Still having a problem with preview when in the 'new posts' section. Works fine if i just go into a normal page tho (ie manually going into the pub, then looking at the list of threads).

Along with this, can we bring back the link (used to be above 'mark forums read') for 'todays posts', new posts only shows up unread ones, todays posts used to show up everything, just with a line separating new ones and old ones.

lol, i only just updated it, and its only 3.5.8.

Not sure why it wont work tho. Will wait for a todays posts link before i worry about updating.

Logging people out was a default option, I have just upped this from 5 minutes to 60 minutes.

Its not exactly a problem.. but the sponcer adds are missing?

We are aware of that one Ozzie, Craig had to take them out as they were causing a few issue's.

I am still yet to add back in the sponsor shortcut in the Navbar.

I really want to get this search sorted out, it's being the biggest pain known to man kind.

once logged in, the user control buttons are somewhat hidden by the banner, could the login box be moved somewhere similar to where it used to be so its out of the banner's way?

otherwise, good luck getting it all sorted out

EDIT: just noticed with this post, because i wrote all the way to the edge, its stretched this box out, for example.
if i stop writingon the above line where i did, it wouldn't be stretched.

id say like this, on my laptop, screen res is 1024x600, so the banner ends up under the top login/user links. on my pc, res is 1440x900, and it doesnt do it.

yes, very top right hand corner

and about the post boxes some being larger than others, it appears as though the quotation box does it too.
im thinking this will only be affecting people with lower screen resolutions, im on a work PC and im sure its only 1024x768

wow I didn't realise 1024x768 was still in existence.

We might need to look at making the banner much smaller in that case, I'll have to attempt to dig up who else is running a low res.

99% of the time I will go advanced search, and search for all THREADS containing posts by me. This way I can follow up on people I have given advice to, etc. I have tried to work out the new advanced search but I cannot see how to do this any more, which I think is a significant problem.

I don't think it's the search not being fully indexed yet either, because I can find threads STARTED by me easily.

i noticed this earlier, in the advanced search page, theres 2 tabs up the top, * Search Single Content Type
* Search Multiple Content Types

its defaulting to multiple content one, hit the single content one, and you can search for threads you started or posted in. might be something for darren to change to single content one as default

Darren, yes like that but sorted by date of last post. that's how I function on this site and when all those threads go stale and die, I hunt for people I can help in certain sections, and use the 'new posts' button for some fresh meat. The cycle begins again

I'm with Savage1987 on this one. I like to be able to come on here after a few days and see updates to threads I've responded to, but I can only search threads started by a user, not responded too.

By the way this new version is rediculously slow! It takes 10 seconds to display what I type after each word. This one reply has taken me 10 minutes alone!

I has a problem. When hitting 'new posts' some threads I know Ive replied in doesnt show the replied icon. But then a few minutes later if I click 'new posts' again it will show it. Even if Ive just posted in it still wont always show it. Just makes it a tad hard to quickly scroll though and find threads Ive posted in.

Also, in the quick reply panel can I suggest the text field be white instead of grey? I keep thinking its greyed out lol





Pretty sure the envelope should be blue instead of red too because I just posted and also the last poster.

All good on my end, that must be a problem with your computer?


Is there somewhere where you can see your total private messages? All it has for me is a total for each folder, which doesn't help me know when its almost full.
