Hmmz, was thinking maybe you could have premium members, who pay a yearly membership towards the site, say $10 perhaps $15, you could give them a custom title and also send them a sticker or give a alias@justcommodres.com.au forwarder?
Just a suggestion to keep some clean revenue coming in....

It may end up getting to that point but I don't really want it just yet anyway for the above reasons.
Having said that the site is looking at sponsoring someone or a team next year and my pocket I doesn't extend that far so we'll see what happens on that front.
Someone, or a team.. Like - A V8 supercar team? I'm sure it wouldn't cost much to get a sticker on the back of their car.
That's correct bextor, we feel it's a great opportunity and hoping to organise something with them.
I've had a pretty rotten time this month but that's a whole story in itself which is probably best left outside of the site.
That would b sweet if we can get a sticker on a V8 supercar!
Cheer up, “Always look on the bright side of life”
I have already messaged Manta Racing for a postal address so I can send them a sticker..free.....but personally, I think it would be a good idea.... we could then pay for all our NEW MERCHANDISE up front etc, etc..........Originally Posted by bextor84

Rat, i agree, and it isnt segregating the community, its just rewarding those who want to give a little back. Maybe have a private forum where things can be talked too between everyone and mods without the mods having to worry about a backlash.
Ive just seen so many sites do this and it works out so well. Id happily hand over 10-15 bucks for a 12 month membership if it helps out the community
Good idea but... i allready have a sticker, a JC email address and a custom titleOriginally Posted by minux
Even if there is no benefits it would sort out the true hearted members from the people only here to cause trouble. Ok some might say they cant afford $10 as they are on tight budgets or dont have a job. But this is dividing the community. I feel maybe an extra section where members only can discuss things would be an appropriate extra.
Another benefit "premium members" could get is a "JC Discount Card" which has to be flashed at supporting stores to recieve discount.
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
I think it seems like a good idea too, I mean if it's only one forum for contributers to talk about the website/direction of JC.. not a whole underground network of forums (kind of like our one hidden mods/admin forum).. plus! We could throw in a sticker or something (depending on availability) or put together some different packages like I dunno
Basic membership (cheapest) - some sort of upgrade (title colour choice would be cool if thats even possible), access to contributers forum and a JC sticker
Extra membership (middle priced) - as above but also a stubby holder or t shirt or something
Über membership (highest priced) - as above but with more stuff I can't even think about right now!
Just playing around with ideas in my head, at the end decision lies with Admin..
edit: discount card, ??% discount on items in the JC shop, JC email address all sound like good ideas
edit 2: image ability in signatures would be wicked
image sigs hurt dial up players. please stay away from that idea!!!
everything else i like, id be willing to pay.
If all goes well next year ill be wrecking a VN as a speedway car, ill give JC the roof for a couple of stickers!!!!
Do I get free membership for being on the site for so long and being a valued member of the community? haha
Yeah I'll fight against picture signatures til I die haha, those things irritate me and add clutter.
I completely understand your thoughts on image sigs, how about an option to disable them, and have them off by default.. user wants to have one they need to turn them on in their User CP and have the box ticked for premium features (or however this will work) by an admin/mod
If it was togglable, with off as the default would it be OK?
Free access for long term members sounds like a good idea (under basic, only access to the forum), how about a long term package for members longer than 2 years or whatever a fair amount of time is?
Yeah I can deal with that if you can turn them off. Off by default etc.
thats a reasonable idea, though iv seen posts in here about peoples avatars. if there were discussions or comments about these image sigs id get frustrated that i couldnt really be involved even though i could if if went on and turned them on....
damn dial up......
Image sigs spoil threads.. Readability goes to shit.. Worst idea in the world IMO..
Have to agree that image sigs would ruin the structure of the forum.
I would love to see a 'premium members' section on here. Would be great to give the members who are committed something extra. I think it would also help discourage negative behaviour because there would be more to lose.
I am a member of lumenlab.com forums and their system (paying customers have a private forum about 10 times larger than the public forum seems to work really well. It's a very friendly, helpfully, and almost completely trouble free environment. The arrangement is that you pay $30 to buy their PDF file and this also buys you forum access.
* Phreddy's Blaupunkt Aux input and line out mod
* 18x8 inch Equus Kalibur Wheels with Maxxis MAV-1 235/40R18
* Sureflo 3.5 inch medium-loud cat back exhaust
yeah that sounds like a really good idea.
but not the sig idea, vlv8vic is right, people would discuss it and you would think wtf are they talkign about if you didnt know they could be turned on. bad idea, you have an avatar, the layout of this site is great.
another idea, easy to do and no conflict, donations...
i mean WHEN i start workgin ill be gettign a bit of money and my budget will go
70% into my car
15% into gf
15% into misc
and whatever i have left over at the end of month will go into savings but couldnt care less if $5 a month went into this site. actually id be happy to do that.
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!
i dont know the laws but do you need a ABN#
unless donated
Research has shown that men usually sleep on the right side of the bed.
Even in our sleep we happen to be right.
