    Default Computer Problems/Questions.

    I thought it would be very useful to create a Computer Problems/Questions thread. I thought Salem/Darren (credit goes out to people who know the answers to these questions/problems).

    The first problem/question is;

    I am trying to upload a image from my computer into my avatar. It's a file created with Paint (copy and paste the image into paint and save it). I got through cropping to the maximum size OK, but it says to upload the file successfully, I need it to be a JPEG image. The question is: how do I create a JPEG image? Here's the image anyway...

    Cheers.

    When you are saving your picture, are you saving it as a jpeg? That is what I did with mine and it worked.
    Very funny Scotty. Now "beam" me up my clothes

    I would prefer not to deal with this kind of stuff after all I deal with it on a daily basis at work and believe me some people really should think about taking up computer tutoring.

    Anyway what version of Windows are you running? If it's paint in XP or 2k I believe paint should be able to save it as a JPEG. Simply open the bit map file in with paint and simply hit save as and save it to what you wish except change the extension or file type to JPEG instead of BMP.

    Attached you'll find the image done for you in JPEG format. I use ACDSee which I find brilliant for any small graphics work I need doing.

    If your paint doesnt have this function....(I know its dumb they should all have it) but if you open a bitmap with imaging, in START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, then file save as and change the file type to jpg.

    in Paint,
    go File-->Save As...--> change the format of the picture under the 'Save Type as' dropdown menu from BMP (bitmap) to JPEG.

    .........but with that image being only 2 colours, save it as a GIF.

    Depeding his operating system that will work but some versions of paint do not have that option.
