If possible, i recon we shud make the 'Comments' viewable to everyone like eBay have there sellers rep etc.
Just make ppl more aware of what the user is like etc
what ya think
Maybe only for comments in the for sale section, or some sort of feedback system very similar to eBay
Well i reckon it should be enforced that comment should be left, i mean whats the point of leavin rep if they dont know what for.
How do you propose that its inforced?Originally Posted by adox

still uses html etc. in admin cp is there a section to modify headers etc? thats where you mods script for the forum etc
AirStrike: you can still modify web-boards/forums, if you know what you're doing. I've done it myself a couple of times.
can we at least have the members leave their names?

Ive been leaving rep pts, make my comment and name at the end, but how do you view it?
definalty agree with the name thing.
Also think it'd be a good idea to see other peoples rep, maybe then the morons would stop, as in both, the ones posting, and the ones leaving useless rep.

I've never been a huge fan of the whole rep point system. To me it seems relatively pointless. However, because they are still here I think they should be controlled. I don't like the idea of having someone who's received alot of positive feedback for posting in 'The Pub'. In my opinion the only feedback that should be left is Intelligent posts where a potential fight has been resolved, the thread has been answered correctly, help has been put forward, useful information etc.
I also think that if other peoples feedback could be viewed we would see alot of those type points left.
And to add on, I still think that the username of the person submitting feedback needs to be displayed as a mandatory field.
It doesn't seem to make any difference. A few weeks back, I left some negative rep (for the first time in 3 years) for someone who, IMO, deserved it. The person sooked to a Moderator who proceeded to tell them who I was. To top it all off, they deleted the negative rep anyway. So, on this forum, the whole 'rep' system is pointless.
:b:
yeah that was me and you know it was, so dont bad mouth me to everyone when you left me bad rep cause you disagreed with my opinion on P platers. you were the one having a sook, not me. hell, you even gave me more bad rep when i confronted you about it, and even then you didnt admit it. get over it, deal with it and dont abuse the rep system.Originally Posted by clixanup

the reputation system is meant to be annonymous for the exact reason it starts shit fights if you recieve negative rep. If a member signs there name thats a bonus but apart from that moderators and admins are not meant to say a word.
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
It wasn't an opinion. It was an inapproriate emotional outburst.Originally Posted by stocky

Anyhow, as I said before, the whole system is pointless, because negative rep points will be deleted when the person sooks to a Moderator.
Yeah, well, someone did. I think the situation has been rectified - to the extent that it can be I suppose, but it did nothing for my faith in any of the Moderators.Originally Posted by Infus10n

your posts were the inappropriate emotional outbursts. i was just proving you wrong and YOU couldnt handle it. so grow up and drop this subject now.
i see youve just disabled your rep. dont worry, im not gonna give you bad rep for this, because im more mature than you.

the rep system is ment to be a anonymos system, to let ya know how you are traveling on the forum with your post's, that is all it's for,
if anyone feels they have been given nasty rep points then you simply pm a moderator, the list is down the bottom of the forum, you click on view forum leaders. then if you dont think it's been delt with right you get in touch with darren or i, and we take care of the issue.
there will be no chance of members names being available with the rep system. it either stay's or it's removed.

So how many rep points do you get for a positive or negative? Or does it depend on the rep of the person doing it?
Thats correct it depends on the person. Sometimes a comment will have no impact upon your reputation level, other times it will have a huge impact. For eg. a new member with no rep power will appear as grey meaning that whatever rep they left you good or bad has no bearing. But on the other hand if for eg. I leave you feedback, I have reputation power of 10, that means I can give or take 10 points from you.
Your reputation power is dependant on a number of things like how many years you have been a member of the site, how many reputation points you have and how many posts you have made. Pm me if you would like to find out what your current rep power is![]()
People here seem to use it for other reasons.Originally Posted by Garth

Of the 3 positive rep points I've received, only one of those was for technical advice. The other 2 were from people agreeing with my opinion on a certain topic. What does that mean? 2 out of 3 people reckon I'm better for political BS than technical advice...![]()
I've posted technical advice lots of times, without receiving any positive rep for it, even though I know it has helped because they've thanked me in the particular thread. Not that I care, because I don't really want the rep points. I try to help people to get them out of sticky situations, not for my own personal gain. Lots of people have helped me in the past and lots of people help me on a daily basis, so I'm only doing my bit and passing it on.
Anyhow, what I'm saying is that the rep system is pointless because even though the rules say one thing, in practise it works a very different way.
Funny you mention that Garth.Originally Posted by Garth

I'm with clixanup here. Been my stance all along.
And I'm jumping on the bandwagon and disabling them aswell. From what I've seen more people are getting rep points for useless things then technical advice. And thats why I'm against it.
