remember me

hello
the "remember me" function when you log in doesn't seem to remember me. i have to keep typing in both, my username and password eveytime i visit the site. it's not anything to do with cookies, i know for sure, because i have them enabled. just wondering why it happens, it doesn't annoy me, im just curious.

Could be a broken cookie, try deleting all your old cookies and give that a go.. If that doesn't work possibly try Mozilla if you're not already using it, much better than Internet Exploder

thanx for the help Juzza. it must be internet explorer, coz cookies don't stay in my computer for very long......i delete them all the time

I've made a couple of changes this morning to the templates after the upgrade, one of which was to do with the 'remember me' function so we'll see how it goes from this point forward.

Ok thats one for exploder. Just trying to work it out as I along with Darren have been using Firefox without a worry since the upgrade.

haha...i accessed the site a few times to see how if it would remember me, and it did. accessed the site again, and i wasn't remembered. so yeah im using internet explorer

Another one for internet exploder. I've only had to sign in twice in the last 6 months, working good for me

shes working fine for me, yer as someone suggested before, delete your cookies and try again.

do you have a firewall or antivirus enabled which may be preventing the use of cookies??

my firewall allows cookies, and anyway, with my firewall off, i still don't get remembered. oh well, it doesn't bother me heaps; i just wanted to know why it happened. and i delete my cookies very often, so i guess it's just how it is.

i've worked out that when i reset my computer, or turn it off, i need to log in on the site, but if i keep the computer running, i only have to login if i click on a thread that i have received on my email. i'll just go and read that thread. thanx darren.

ok darren, i read the thread and i had already done all those things, except allowing cookies, i was sure they were already allowed, every site i had been on had been fine, i was remembered on other sites i've been on, so i didn't think it was a cookie thing. i was told to delete cookies, and i did so often. so internet explorer wasn't allowing cookies, so that was it. sorry for the trouble darren, and thanx to anyone who helped.

Hasn't worked for me for the past few weeks. I log in here at work on a couple of sites- nearly all of them work except JC's. So I just dont click the remember me button anymore.

Slightly annoying but I'll live. Thats with IE6

yeh exploder is crap iv had the problem ever since starting to use the site and i got IE6 sp2 dnt have a firewall as i got a hardware one cookies are allowed and all my settins seem to be fine dnt have the trouble with many sites so i duno
