Default Negative feedback due to opinion.

Ok, if you have a problem with anything I say, retort it. Just because you're too morose to come up with a witty, informative opinion, doesn't mean you should go launching an assault with the negative feedback button.

Also, stupid reasons such as this:
    "A rubbish opinion. -C/D!"
    Doesn't help anyone.

That was feedback I got from the following post.
    http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...785#post244785

Notice what I wrote was a very clear piece of prose, backed by slight sarcasm.

It did not deserve negative feedback.

Whoever left that feedback should be banned, or even better, shot out of a cannon. (Before I get negative feedback for saying that too, I said it merely to convey a sense of how irritated I am)

Put plainly, this is why I rarely visit this site anymore, because I find it difficult to handle half of the BS posts that people make because they simply can't perform well in an active debate.

That being said, I'd like to thank Shounak, sixshooter, minux, greenfoam and anyone else who I've missed for giving me some excellent and downright informative threads.

If I'm given a hiatus for this post, then that's something I'll have to accept, I just hope that you'll all think in future before running straight to the feedback button.

sometimes you just have to take it ont the chin mate. there are people out there with different opinions and by the look of some of those replies they just want to have it out with you to prove thier point. Or just because they like having it out with someone to prove that "they are the bigger man"
Whatever the case youve got a valid point, but this is supposed to be a site for commodore owners to talk and help each other so I say we try to keep the negativity to a minium.

My two cents worth any way.

Not a dig at the site itself, it's excellent, just a dig at the people here. It relates to more than just the feedback itself.
I just want people to think.

I got some negative feedback about a thread I made. Another neg feedback left by someone else for that same post was deleted..

Why can't these idiots just leave their names.. If it's neg feedback regarding a stupid post, then fair enough. Leaving your name would be the decent thing to do though..

Names should be made mandatory. Any rep (good or bad) left without a name should be deleted instantly. God damn cowards.. You'd think an "virtual" personality is enough, but people are too afraid to even reveal that when making a comment..

By all means, leave negative feedback. I don't care what people think, I wouldn't care if I had -300 feedback, I just want more people to be involved in debates, and not be persecuted for it.

you cant, only the person who receives it can check it, but you can see their rank which is decided by amount of feedback by moving your mouse over the green or red dot in the top right of someones post, next to your post count and ride.

You can't check someone elses, but to check your own, click User CP up the top, next to FAQ.
If you hover your mouse over the green squares under someones post count, it will give you a rough idea, but through a ranking system.

I agree. I also was given negative feedback but don't know who left it and worst of all, no comment was made as to why my post sucked. I don't think this is an effective way of using the rep system.

Yes, I would cop any negative feedback on the chin but only if the person had an explanation as to why they did it.

    cheers

whine whine whine, time to leave some negative feedback

maybe we could remove negative feedback all together, this way people couldn't whine about getting feedback from the feedback system!!!

The whole negative feedback thing is negative.

There should be no options for secret feedback at all apart from the Private Message system and any negative and positive comments should have to be entered in the thread itself as a reply.

That way maybe there would be some more constructive participation in the threads and people replying would have to think a bit more about getting their points across as well as removing the anonymity part of the feedback system.

I think a thanks button would be a better option and that way good members would be rated on how many thanks they had for good posts and as for bad posts well they wouldn't get anything.

This way posters who post interesting, helpful, entertaining, popular topics/replies ( some threads run to pages and pages) etc, would be ranked by their peers by the thanks instead of the sheer number of post counts which don't reflect accurately good posters from the posters who post just to raise their post count.

I agree with the thanks, I've seen it done on the i-phone forum and it works, helps make things more positive and less negative happy forums!

Mods can look into it, but we're not able to implement it.. it's not something we have the access to do, something like that would be the job of the Admins.. I'll mention this thread to them though!

The thanks system is used on a few forums I'm active on. It's an extremely good system.

Again, I'm not whining about having negative feedback, hell, I had negative feedback from several months ago, that was also unfair, and it didn't bother me. The persecution over an opinion is what bothered me, and peoples lack of will/ability to participate in public debates.

    have a cry luke :P

The problem is wording of the feedback. It is open to opinion because you can vote negatively on your opinion (if that makes sense). You can choose to vote a post down hased on what you think they are saying, not how relevant what they are saying is. In lukes (deathsminion)s case his opinion recieved an 'i disapprove' which is appropriate if you ask me, everyone else is on the feedback bandwagon as if it was ebay, it simply isnt.
If you dont agree with what someone says you have every right to use the scales, it's a tightass thing to do based on someones opinion but it's not breaking any rules (and when an admin removes this feedback thats not really fair either).

The thanks idea is good as it makes productive members stand out and nothing more.

the infamous feedback system strikes again

Troy not always. I got negative rep from people because in one particular thread i had a dig about someone saying things about ford's and other car's. Or how i got neg rep a few time's for pointing out what the law was when other people disagreed...

I agree neg feedback is good, just some people use it strangely, i use it when people abuse me in a post(eg swearing insulting etc)
