What do we all want to see?

Well as you've all been aware this site has pretty much evolved from user input. It's that time again where we need your help.

With help of the mods and the likes of Guy, Phil etc and all those other guys out there who are always putting up helpful/useful posts up all over the place (you know who you are) it has really turned this place into something a little more than a hobby.

Anyway enough dribble, it's time for some more hard work and we are looking for anything you guys may feel the site is lacking whether it be more how-to's, pictures, parts reviews, car reviews (very hard) or something you have seen from another site etc etc.

Obviously this isn't going to happen in a blink of an eye, more or less I'm going to try sitting down for a few hours a week aside from everything else and slowly putting together suggestions which you have come up with.

We have a fairly good idea what people are searching for to find us but I thought it would be nice if we could find out from the horses mouth so to speak.

If you would rather not discuss it in the forum feel free in firing off an email to myself, Garth or any of the mods or atlernatively via PM.

So speak your mind, if something needs improving say so, if you don't like something say so then again if your happy with the way it is say so.

We won't be able to do everything but we can certainly try.

I would like to see more active participation on this site I think it is one of the major things we are lacking(but you cant just add that), for example me and Garth added the part number section yet it was only Me, Garth and Jake I think from memory who have posted, yet just about everyone has had to buy parts at some time or another. I think if we do add more how-to's this might bring some of the people out of the wood work. Also I know this has been talked about briefly with the admin/mod team but I would like to see if we can get some sponsers on board, as I think it would be good for the site (possibly take it to a pole??), in that we would be making an income to support the site (the hosting costs, upgrades, etc.) and also possibly better prices/deals/packages for members from our sponsers, as although we have the online shop I feel that we are not making a huge amount of sales of it (one of the guys confirm this?), in that you can not go and see the product, along with the fact that it cannot be installed professionally unless you are down in Melb.
Now im starting to rant and rave.
Also i'm not sure if this is an option at all but is there away we can advertise the site at all? I feel that we have a great bunch of people here but are lacking your true car enthusiest(who knows how to spell it?) and instead have a great number of 'Holden Lovers' that are here for a more social point, which is good but doesnt really further the site.

hows about a section where users can have say, 2 or 3 pics of their car posted and a list of mods. sorta like a members profile section. just make up a template and people can submit it and such.

also, more nood girls would be good :P

How to's, and car reviews would prolly be a great idea. We can already put pictures of our cars up in the members section, but it would be nice to put some info up about them too. You could argue that you can use cardomain for that, but I don't like their layout, its too messy. Just my thoughts...

I'd like to see more information and pics of the different engines, and a bit more detailed information on common problems relating to each specific model. Although this would require all of us to participate! :-) I think the website is great and i log on to daily, just to have a look at what people have to say in the forums. And have a quick look at any changes to the site. I'd love to see more Commdores driving around with WWW.JUSTCOMMODORES.COM on the rear window, theres a lot of people out there who love their commdore ( like me ) but dont know the site exists. This site has given me a great deal of knowledge about my car, and also taught me what a few things are under bonnet lol (sensors etc). On that note, it would be good to see more people post "How to's" for instance on the site we have a how to guide on how to remove a head unit in a VN-VS, but it would be good if we could get more on other models, vt,x,y etc.... Maybe more of us need to make them!
Anyway guys im rambling on a bit, Im off!

i woulda bought a JC sticker for my ute but i wasnt a big fan of them. the last lot didnt have the 'www' on them and looked kinda uneven... so yea

2. i wanna see lest post counting

3. i would like to see the pup and jokes humour section made post free, i.e. if you make a post, it dont actulay count

4. would like to see a monthly new's letter, ill talk to darren on that one

5. would like to see more user input. i.e. airstrike, kurt, myself and jake are the only ones who have made any post's in the part no's, if you buy a part, keep it, and put up a quick little ditty

6. would like to see rules up dated, so people dont get to far carried away

7. would like to see a template made up, and stuck with for any post's made in the for sale section

8. wanna see kurt sober for 1 night atleast

9. as for sticker's, well, they are out there, contact the shop administrators, strech and mr-spares, for details about stickers. they are at the shop guy's. if you want one, ask these guy's.

2. agreed again. i know i post alot of crap sometimes but i dont post just to get a higher post count. post count means nothing... time on the board does to a degree cos it shows how long you have stuck with the site

4. once again another good idea. can include some how-to tips, remiders on events, new shop items, maybe users can do a review from a car show/motor sport event the recently attended. maybe even some for sale items

I haven't really thought about what I would and wouldn't like to see here probably because it seems just fine the way it is to now to me. The only thing I would like to see improved is user participation, but like said previously theres not much u guys can do about that. Maybe see if other commodore sites/ forums will do a banner exchange, that could only help with exposure I guess.

Another idea which has been a huge hit and biggest topic of converstaion in my chatroom/forum has been our "Car Of The Month", the idea behind this is basically all members put up pics and details about their cars and we vote on our fav and the car that gets the most votes is Car Of The Month. There doesn't need to be a prize for this, everyone just seems to be flattered by the recognition, also people tell their mates who have nice cars and they join up too and the more the merrier I reckon Maybe you could do something similar and just run a poll to decide the winner, so everyone has imput and feels included. If you were feeling generous maybe even throw in a justcommodores sticker 4 the winner.

Thats all I got at the moment, I'll come up with more when I have time to think about it, but u guys r doin a great job as it is, keep up the good work

Yeah i like the 'car of the month' idea.

The site seems to be based around the forums at the moment - and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that! - However, something like the "Car Of The Month" would encourage more user interaction, and as Julie said, really open the site up to alot more visitors as word gets around!

As said above i think that more user interaction is needed, car of the month idea is great,

I know that chat has became a bit of a problem but a chat intergrated wit the site would be good.

Some major "how to's" would be good with pictures and detailed explanations, like cold air intake and simple mods like that to your car that most ppl do.

Should put more Paid advertising around sum site...but getting more advertising means heaps more ppl which is great but then there is the risk of getting a bunch of idiots here.

The whole thing of less post counting....what the point of even having post counts? take em off

Some way of dirrectly linking someone to a different area where you have already writen the reply they want...but you can't remember where!!

Agreed on the post whoring thing, get rid of counting on the pub and jokes sections. Also agree on the 'www' sticker issue, i may start working on a variant or two myself to see what I can come up with. Car of the month, how to's, etc all awesome ideas and i'd be more than happy to put some things in text for the VL side of things.

Personally I'd like to think I can get a little more involvment accross the ditch here. Commodore is the number one selling car in NZ since forever, so it should thus not be a huge ask esp with plenty of every model out on the streets at night. Problem is im not sure where to start eh.

some of the how to's are really helpful but sometimes are hard to understand exactly if a beginner. to entice new blood more step by steps with images would be awesome. maybe more prices on things, wats a 'good price' to expect. also maybe start from scratch kits. like settin up a whole sound system for example. what should be the shopping list when goin to the store. all ideas sound great!! and luv this site!!

I reckon we should organize group bookings for defensive driving courses. Not everyone has a chance to go do one at school. The newest members (I think) are generally young people who have just got their license so it would be beneficial to them and we could get it at a discount for large groups.

Concerning “how to guides”, I think we should make them kinda like a wiki, able to be modified by anyone so any tips and tricks people have found can be added.
