ok, admins, this is seriously annoying, people digging up old threads, latest one: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/...150#post340150
almost 3 years old
granted the post is of some use, but geez, i think the guy is gone by now, id say he either sorted out his motor or is driving a different car.
is there any implementation that can be setup, so maybe something like a moderated post, where any threads with no posts in 6 months or so, needs to be cleared by a mod before a new post is put up?
some people are posting useless crap, others are trying to help, but the info is useless to the person who was after it to begin with.
and can maybe something be put up, on top of a new users screen to say search first or something, another forum im on, has a message saying i havent posted recently and suggests i post something. can something similar to this be done for newbies til they reach a certain amount of posts?
lol, it is annoying but whats it matter, it will revive and die off again.

I personally would rather old threads be dug up rather then new posts all the time. We cant tell members to use the search function, and then complain when they bring up old threads.

Its ok if its a new question but when they are giving advice to another user from 3 years ago, seems pointless.......
The whole point of the search function is.... search for info on your issue, read it all, if your still not satisfied then post a question.
Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
I have no problem with it, especially when its just newbies trying to help out. If its a regular user digging up old posts just to be a smartarse thats a different story. If people just ignore these dug up threads instead of posting up comments criticising that member for digging the post up the thread would just quietly disappear back into its grave and we'd have nothing to worry about!
time to go dig up a few posts just for Julie![]()

thing is if a question has been answered, they find it, get the answer and dont have to post so therefore they havent done any grave digging. if the problem wasnt solved then they start a new thread and see waht comes from it.
shouldnt really be any reason to re-write something in a thread where the answer has been worked out!
It's going to be brilliant if this thread is dug back up in the future when people keep complain about grave digging then..
My crystal ball is awesome.. (It will take a while for it to be appreciated though)
I see two sides of it, I'm generally fairly lenient on this one and yet to delete a post which has been bought.
If someone has something valuable to add then there is no problem, if on the other hand someone is just posting to boost post count then it's wrong.
