Default Server Problems - Under Attack

    Howdy Guys,
As you may or may not be aware things have been somewhat flakey this afternoon, this from what I can work out is the work of the phpBB virus Santy doing the rounds and it's hit our host.

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge there isn't a huge amount we can do although I have just restarted apache which seems to have settled things down although I really can't say for how long for.

Sorry about this guys, unfortunately this is completely out of my control.

    Cheers
    Darren

Everything appears to be back to normal, there were 6 or so sites hosted on the same server which were left unpatched :b: despite all the warnings it caused up some real frustration.

I would highly recommend anyone who visits these forums and runs phpBB 2.0.10 or lower to patch your system as it's not only yourself who suffers.

I had personally patched these which was rather time consuming but sure worth it.

Thanks for baring with us on this one

We had an attack on our own forums only a Week before JC. Someone managed to gain access to our Vbulletin Admin Control panel and include some of his own code that called on a Trojan virus. We are still not sure how the hacker got in but have an idea that it was because we hadn't updated the board software for a few Months and they expoited some security flaw in the version we were using. Apparently its gonna get alot worse as its a really easy way of installing Trojans in a big way as most people are using crappy old Internet Explorer.
