    Default Hijacking threads

It seems that nearly every thread nowadays turns into some sort of argument about one persons thinking they're right and the other wrong. It gets so bad that you can have a hundred replys and not one will address the point raised in the original post. Old and new members are equally at fault.

My suggestion for mods is to simply delete the first post that goes off topic and any irrelevant posts there after. Lets keep threads on topic.

I don't want to come on here and have to listen to people pushing their own B.S agenda. I get enough of it at work.

A simpler way would be to report the post. We don't have time to sit here and read every single reply, nor do we want to (for example I won't read threads in the VE section).

Could try to ignore OT posts, by not responding to the OT poster, i know its hard but just ignore them and reply/quote people who are keeping things OT by responding to the people who take the thread OT it only usually draws you into an argument (wich is what they usually want) and then everyone adds there 2c worth and then whole thread goes OT lol!

You know what makes me laugh, when we do this, we get abused and we get one of the handful of members saying mods shouldn't be moderating so much blah blah blah. We can't win. When we close a thread off topic we get essay pm's sent on why they would make a better moderator than any other mods here.

If you the public want something fixed, hit the report post button explaining why.

Perhaps this thread will result in another "Vote for mods" thread

    Thread cleaned..FFS

I'm not bagging any mods. I'm just making a suggestion.

LOL... Agree about the Highjacking part, its natural...
Imagine if you went to the pub and spoke about ONE topic for the entire night, it would be pretty ****ing boring, and then everytime you tryed to change the topic someone spoke over you, or veryone started bagging you out... wouldnt be fun.
Theirs this weird thing called conversation, some people arnt as good as others at holding a long way, but it normally starts out on one topic and one leads to another, it may even come back to the original topic. Off topic posts relax the atmosphere in my opinion until you get someone complaining about it. If it was all work and no play we would all go... something somthing... crazy??? dont mind if do.... bleh blah ahhhhh... OK you get the point.

Also my first post was deleted and for good reason and im not complaining, and i wont be siprised if this one goes missing.

*pulls the head out of his arse*

Your exactly right, topics do stray, if we catch them we fix it, heck even us mods do it time to time. If someone reports it we will fix it. The problem we face is when we clean something up there is always someone who complains. Unfortunately we cannot please everyone.

    Holdfast, thanks for the comments

Well my post got dumped too.

I find it comical that the person who dumped it said, that he wouldn't / or wont visit the VE thread.

    I'm quite amazed, funny really.

I won't be donating $$ to this forum again unless I receive an apology

It was actually me who deleted the post as it wasn't on topic.

If you want a screenshot as proof let me know. I am the same with Dave, I try not to visit the VE section as most of it starts as one topic and after 10 posts is on something so far off the mark it isnt funny

wow... a thread about hijacking threads gets hijacked...

thank you for your concerns everyone. thread closed to prevent more stupid comments.

maybe some of you people should take a long hard look at your actions and posting tactic son the forums BEFORE you come in here and have a go. perhaps if you adjusted your own attitudes then these sorts of issues wouldnt arise.
