Well, we have made it! Our very new home, from past experiences I think we should be right at home here.
At the moment I won't go into huge details, I'll get to that later on.
I would like to give a huge hand to my old work buddies from E-Access, Joel & Mike who made this possible.
If you do come across any problems by all means pop them up in here.
Cheers
Darren

Is the server still owned by hightek or have you purchased one? Are we still going through them i guess is what im asking?
What are the specs?
Good news.
aZk.
Server is JC's at its old home originally before Darren moved it ages ago
the specs i have written somewhere, i'll leave that to darren though
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

right, so, Darren has purchased a (?new) server and we no longer rely on hightek's web hosting... that how i got it yeah?
Who does Darren use for an ISP? would cost an arm an a leg to run a personal symetrical link like that with the bandwith JC takes up...
aZk.
The sites hosting has been changed to E-Access effective from this afternoon (I used to work for them and moved it stupidly when I left last year, in the history of JC it would have been the worst decision I probably ever made).
The server is an outright purchase and I still have the old JC server which we used 12 months ago now which I plan to use as well in the near future.
At present the server is basically idling but I won't say things are over in terms of problems, I can only hope they are for the sake of you guys and my sanity!
Server specs I will just say should be ample and is much more than we had previously, if anything it's probably overkill. Just for starters we are running 4x the amount of RAM and I have 4x 2GB sticks on hand if required although that doesn't appear to be the case at this point in time.
I will be playing around tomorrow morning but I'm uncertain what time exactly, it really shouldn't cause too many problems and then I can start preparing for a forum upgrade.
After hours of trouble sleeping wondering whether everything was going to be OK without constant monitoring I am very happy to report that things seem to be going very well.
I still do have plans to do a forum upgrade (a real one this time)but we'll see how everything pans out.
For anyone that has been around long enough to remember when we were originally with E-Access will know that it should be all smooth sailing from here!!
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
sweet as! top job guys.
so what happend to hightek darren?? why did u kick em?
I would rather not discuss the specific reasons why this move happened, in public anyway.
I will shoot you a PM shortly regarding your query.
At the end of the day I had to make a tough choice to look after those who support the site and ultimately obtain the best possible outcome for them.
Those who I had discussed the move with can vouch for how nervous I was making the move as I really wanted minimal downtime, you really never do know what's going to be on the other side.
As Dave said JC was hosted previously with E-Access prior to the data loss last year and had no problems at all (own hardware ie CPU fan doesn't count if anyone can remember that).
If the last almost 24 hours is anything to go by on how things are heading we are certainly on the right track and look forward to plenty of growth and exciting times ahead.
Cheers
Darren
considering the sheer amount of data to be moved around and all the settings etc that need to be checked and made sure all is working, it was done extremly ****ing quickly and i dont think anyone can complain about it seriously.
hopefully now the issues will all be gone once the new server settles in past its hiccup stage.
though am i the only one not getting thread subscription emails?
The email issue is being looked as we speak.
I've been having cracks at it off and on from early hours of this morning.
That's how many is currently sitting in the queue waiting to be sent outmessages in queue: 179That figure will increase when tonight comes around for the daily updates etc.

so this all means that the server wont die in the arse as much...?
it was abit like mark webber's driving skills.
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
lol hsvpunk that's gold.
Well based on what's happened over the past 24+ hours and the feedback I have received this appears to be the case.
I have not had a single problem reported to me so after the struggle to what seemed to be a never ending battle I think we may have won in the end!
Just so you know there is still an add for hightech hosting in the top bar.... nufin huge just thought you all might be interested![]()
3 issue's resolved, 3 left.
If you are receiving email by POP3 and having problems let me know, I am sure I got all the mail accounts moved but there is that off chance that something got missed.
It will take a little bit to get the remainder functional but do it properly the first time and you don't need to do it again![]()
I am getting this error when trying to check my email. Is this the prob you are trying to fix?

Webmail is a little broken, actually it doesn't exist at the moment.
I organised the SSL certificate earlier today and will hopefully have webmail setup by the end of the week *fingers crossed* (I won't be doing it at this stage so a little bit iffy on the time front).
thanks for that Darren. just making sure it wasnt my comp doing it.
Cheers Shane

Seems I didn't cop too much flack for my departure when I was having a bad day. Some didn't like me starting a thread and thought I should've just left without saying so.
Well anyway I'm back peoples !!!
I've returned from my self imposed holiday cooling off period from the all the frustrations I was having. And I'm ready to start a fresh.
I'm having a few problems though as I can't fully access area's of my account now for some reason. I have sent you a PM and notified a mod about this Darren.

Mike
