Hi Guys,
Just a quick one advising of downtime from today through to Friday perhaps Saturday even.
We are moving to AustraliaYes, you heard right.
There are a lot of benefits but namely speed which should be exceptional.
The slowest part is going to be the DNS servers updating which can take anywhere from a few minutes right through a 24 hours, a lot depending on how often the providers DNS updates.
Firstly all the .com email addresses are being moved first, once that is accomplished we will then start the nice task of moving the forum and everything else along with it.
Everyone who has an email address with a .com or .com.au ending (Only Just Commodores Addresses) is asked to send their password through to admin@justcommodores.com.au so we can set them up on the new host ASAP to limit the chance of anything going wrong.
Part of the process will require a shutdown of the forum closing it off to new posts so we are able to move hosts with the minimum of fuss.
Some of you may recall the dramas we had when the new site took shape, I am hoping it's not going to be the same but no matter how well thought through the plan is things never appear to go to plan.
I will apologise now for any inconveniece, withdrawl symptoms etc you may suffer from the site being down.
Cheers
Darren
Update - Disregard the email me your password, I have managed to retrieve the vast majority of them, should you have problems logging in simply use the password 'password'.
Just to update on the hosting front, we have had to push back the site move due to insufficient testing as well as the new host not being fully equipped with the software we require.
It will more than likely be happening late in this coming week.
Ok, better late than never, we are moving hosts tonight. Later at around 10:30 - 11:00pm (Adelaide time) the forum will be unavailable whilst we drag the database on to the server.
When the forum goes down it may take 24 - 48 hours for everything to update which is really dependant on your internet provider how quick their DNS updates, at this when everything updates you will be sitting at the new home of JC in Australia on one heck of a server
I can promise you one thing it won't be like another sites supposed 'server upgrade' which turned pear shaped and took weeks to resolve due to incompetence.
I feel like I'm talking to myself here.
Anyway all went well, one little problem which was my own fault but nevertheless it's all done.
For the forum which 'changed servers' recently that's a quick lesson how it's done!! A complete total of 7.5 hours of downtime, that's something to be proud of in my view.
If you do come across any problems by all means drop us an email and we'll get it sorted as soon as possible.
Congratulations on a job well done.![]()
when i try to check my JC emaila ccount with POP3 in outlook it says:
Failed to connect to server mail.justcommodores.com.au

Some people say less talk more action, i say more torque less traction.
I just realised there is a problem with email, I'll have a look at that now as I haven't seen any email yet which strikes me as real odd.
All .com email addresses though should remain as they normally would.
Do you know if all DNS servers have replicated, I just can't resolve this website at home.
But I will change my DNS servers for the moment so I can still browse this site.
Cheers,
Jim![]()
all seems good.com from my end , darren....do we get more space to put our pix up wiff this newbie, or do we have to keep taking down old pix, to put up new ones?????
The changes should have been pretty much real time, you can try ipconfig /flushdns on your home machine from a command prompt, otherwise your providers details might be lagging behind a little which is certainly a possiblity.Originally Posted by 2Fast2FuriousDude
You should be able to access it from http://202.191.99.20/forums/ as well although the domain name is the preferred option obviously.
You've stumped me on this one, there shouldn't have been a space issue on either the old server or the new one for that matter. Please explainOriginally Posted by rattattack1313

when I go to put pix up..there is only soo much space I have to put them in..to put new pix up, I have to take old ones down......can you make it so I can leave all my pix up ???also...how so you do that thingie with the "here" bit that people do....click "here" to see my car etc...????(still a pretty burnt out Rat..lol..)..
I can't access my email either, I clicked on the webmail link on the homepage and it took me to http://www.justcommodores.com.au/webmail.php link as it used to then looked like it was about to load but then went to http://www.justcommodores.com.au:2095/ and died on me......![]()
Ratt, thats an easy one see the button where u insert a hyperlink (the little pic of the world), click on that then a window will open promting you to type in the text you want, type 'here' (or anything you like) then click ok and another little window will open where you post the actual link.

I know what you mean now, I've just increased the maximum from 7mb > 20mb so that should be enough to keep you amused for a while.
I've also increased PM inbox size from 50 > 100.
I'll update the link when I get home from work this afternoon, it should be http://webmail.justcommodores.com:2095 for .com users, at present and in the forseeable future .com.au owners will need to use Outlook / Outlook Express or something similar. The mail server needs to be changed from mail.justcommodores.com.au > vx.justcommodores.com.au although I'll more than likely change that soon. Those few who do use .com.au email addresses could you send an email through to us via the contact us link at the bottom to give us a password you would like to use as I have no way of retrieving them.
This new home isn't permanent, the next step is purchasing our own dedicated box, at present Webshield have supplied the hardware and E-Access has provided the bandwidth. We must thank both of these companies as without them this wouldn't have happened.
I think that covers just about everything now.
cheers for making more space for us to put our pix up Darren...... onya, matey!!!![]()
Email was working good, now I'm having dramas again, it will either sit there for ever waiting for the page to open or I will get this page cannot be opened msg.
My mum has been having the same trouble, DeepBlue hosting who the .com email is still with were down a big part of yesterday.
Looks like we made the right decision to move the site when we did otherwise the whole site would have been down.
This is some outage, they are still down, the first I knew of it being down was around 12:15pm.
By virtue of the fact I still cant get access to my email (15:15 WA time) I take it they are still down...

"F**k safety, I'm in a hurry"
DeepBlue appears to be up therefore webmail should be up again, whether they have done the 'upgrade' is anyone's guess.
