I'm new here so forgive my ignorance, but is it the norm to not receive an explanation when a thread is locked? I would frankly rather have asked this question directly to the mods, but there doesn't seem to be a way...

no, the mod who closes a thread wont always explain why. in your case, is it not clear? the thread wasnt going anywhere, it was rather pointless dont you think?

theyre username is red... or at least thats how it worked last time i was on... havnt been on for ages

goto the main just commodores index, down the bottom theres a link "view forum leaders", otherwise, any member with an orange name is a moderator, red is an administrator.

Yes it is normal, that when a thread is pointless, it will be closed without notification.
