Site Banning??

Hey guys, and girls..

Just basically a general enquiry really other than anything else. Recently I have seen a few people banned (saying banned under there username in posts?) one as recently as today.. (not objecting to it, or asking why, don't really need or want an answer as to what they did or anything, I dont know any of them)

Just wanting to know is it something that just sneaks up on you, like you get an email saying your banned? or is it more-so a warning after warning type thing..

I've briefly read the JC rules, and will go back to have another read soon, but sort of wanted to hear it 'out of the horses mouth' so to speak..

I kind of understand the idea of the infraction points system, and will go freshen up on the finer points after this..

Basically wanting to know if im in any danger of getting near this point, haha..

Sorry if im wasting your time with this, its probly straight forward..

some people get banned for multiple infractions, some get banned for being absolute morons, and others just put banned in the user title thing to try look cool. i believe they get an email but i cant be sure

You have to be a real moron, or an arrogant sonofabitch to get banned. I can be a bit of a clown, and I'm yet to receive any real infractions.

So long as you basically don't:

1) act like a troll
2) insult people
3) talk like a guttermouth
4) post pictures of Minux having a funky time with Airstrike

you should be alright

Generally most bans you will get multiple warnings and a points build up.

Infraction System The infraction system is a warning system which alerts Just Commodores Mods to members constantly breaking Just Commodores rules. Each infraction has a level which involves points. After 5 points a 24 hour ban will automatically be imposed. While some points will expire after a set time period more serious ones will not. Any infractions you receive are final and can be viewed in your profile screen. The following system is now in place and will be adhered to by the Just Commodore Moderator Team:

Level 1 Infraction (1 Point)

* Incorrectly posted trading post thread
* Chat in Trading Post (First Offence)
* Inappropriate Language (While bypassing the swear filter will not get you an infraction from some mods it may from others, remember this.)
* Signature Rule Violation
* Inappropriate Conversation e.g.: Used in instances of trolling in the Technical Forums.

Level 2 Infraction (2 Points)

* Promotion/Displaying Illegal Behaviour
* Member Abuse (We all know what STFU and the likes mean, even as an acronym this will be considered member abuse.)
* Moderator Abuse
* Multiple User Names (Second Name will be banned)
* Chat in Trading Post (Second Offence)
* Spammed Advertisements (Discretion used)

Level 3 Infraction (5 Points)

* Racist Comments
* Spammed Advertisements (Discretion used)

If we feel it appropriate we will make up our own infraction and decide if it warrants warning/timed expiry/never expire/ban etc

Just to add, we perm ban many members, then unban them to see if they learn. So far this process has only worked on one member lol. I dare say JC is one of the most lenient forums around.

iv got a few infractions and a warning (from tonight) and they are all fair. But plenty of stuff gets looked over and thats the annoying part about it. I was warned for using inappropriate conversation however 10 seconds later in the chatbox there was HEAPS of it happening and nothing will be done about it. Thats my only gripe with it.

So report it mate. If we do not see it, we cannot do anything. Even if it means sending myself or another mod a pm...

how do you know when you have an infraction? and can you monitor the amount or lack of "points" you have?

it shows up in your USERcp will, shows u when u got the infraction, why, who issued etc etc.

and the points also show up when you get some + ones or - ones, why, who-sometimes etc..

Hi Minux,in relation to permanent banning and getting un banned,how does this happen as i know of somebody in the perm banned situation that would like to come back.What is the process?

Best way is to email admin@justcommodores.com.au and put your case forward. If admins feel it is worthy they will either reverse the ban on a final warning or discuss it with us mods.

Agreed, JC is very forgiving, I've only ever had one infraction and it was when they cracked down on the sexual references and I know now my comment was out of line. Everyone seems to get enough warnings, some just take them to heart and keep attacking, it is just a forum sheez lol.
I only know one forum thats more lenient then JC, and it was one that blatant death threats were made to me, but the admin there did care to remove my address when the guy making the threats posted it haha.
