jeza do you use any stencils in your work? if yes where do you buy them from ive struggled to find them.
What paint, primer and clear coat are you using?
ive found airbrushtricks on youtube quite helpful. would u recommend anyone to look at?

I Don't Care What You Say, But My Commy Is The Fastest Car In The World
wow, there is some amazing air brush work on here guys good stuff.
Jeza love your work just wondering what filler you used on that V6 engine cover as i was looking at doing something cool to mine, when i saw the one u did i was like..OMG thats wat i need. Ive used a few fillers on other stuff but most feel to brittle when they set.?
Yeah, i use a few stencils but have never actually purchased any. I make them myself out of thin sheets of plastic. Its much cheaper and you can make a size that suits what you are doing. As for paints, i use whatever pressure pack i have in the correct colour. This stuff has just been for practice so i have used the cheaper cans. I havn't used primer on any of the engine covers and never had trouble with any of them peeling, i just prep them well.
Youtube is great for learning, airbrushtricks, Ed Hubbs, and Jaime Rodriguez are a few to look at
I used '3m lightweight body filler' for the engine cover. I thought it may not work with heat etc, but that engine cover has been on my car since i painted it and there has been no problems. I sanded the gaps well, chucked the filled in, followed by heaps of sanding, and more filler to get it all smooth and remove the 'v6 3800' text.
Does anyone know if a helmet could be airbrushed, then have sections of gloss clear and sections of matte clear? I may be doing a formula ford helmet soon, and that is what they are looking for. Can it be done? Who has attempted it? Thanks
you should give tattooing a go.
looks like you would have what it takes.

hey guys, ive just got a quick question, im gonna by a cheap air brush tomorw hopefully. What type of paint do you recon i should get, preferably cheap, and where from?
Ive read some of you guys are using acrylics and 2packs, but dunno what i should go for, the paint will be used in the engine bay so probably needs to be relatively heat resistant.
I really wish I had the money, time, patience & instruction to get into this hahaha
used to love drawing years ago and definitely miss it, was always told to do this every time I see this thread I wish I'd started sooner.
Looking good, is it airbrushed on the inside of the plastic? If so have you ever done any work such as flames etc, which are not masked and you have to spray it in the reverse order to what you would usually have to. So highlights first and then finish with the base colour.
You should give it a go, just start with a cheap basic setup and look on youtube for tips, but finding time is the hardest part. Not long until my uni folio's are due and i can finally start airbrushing again. I also love my drawing and been drawing every day for uni, i have noticed a big improvement in my skills, hopefully it reflects in my airbrushing.
I have been looking for a new HVLP gun for laying down base and clears for projects such as helmets, engine covers, computer cases etc. Would a touch up gun or full size gun be better suited? I only have a cheapo 2.5hp 40l aircompressor. After looking at the cheap chinese guns as i don't want to spend too much, i found a Workquip P-102g Gravity spray gun (Workquip P102G 3 TIP SET UP Gravity Spray Gun & STAND - Paint | eBay[) which looks pretty good for the price. Has anyone used these, or heard about them? My concern is the compressor will struggle to keep up, but it is only small projects so im not sure.
Does anyone have recommendations for HVLP guns, touch up or full size for under the $100 mark.
Thanks
Nice job on the fridge!! How many hours was that?

It's holidays again, so i can find some time to get the airbrushing stuff back out for a while. The last project was a lion head, with claws gripping around each sub. Im happy with the face, but not so much the mane which was done with a paintbrush. I should have taken more time to do it with the airbrush to get a more realistic look.
I have just started a mural type piece on my new computer case which will hopefully be finished in the next few days if i find time.
I finished up the computer case today, i rushed a bit towards the end as i need to start installing the internal components. When i started i was not 100% sure what design i wanted, i started with flames on the front but that was soon sanded off, i decided to go for a different design an just do a collage style piece. The different images relate to me in one way or another. I was thinking of adding colour or possibly just using a blue or red in different parts, but time ran out. The aim was to try and get all of the images to flow together instead of just placing seperate images across the case.
I figured i was clear coating the case so i may aswell quickly airbrush the x-box controller shell to clear at the same time. Again it was a quick job, i'm planning on selling it soon.

The other week i also scored some really nice paint in the clearance paint section. $2 for about 700ml of this crazy paint. Is it a metallic paint or more pearlescent? in the shade it looks black then when the sun hits it the aqua/green comes out. The picture doesn't pick up the colour too well.

Well I have a new job to upload, it's not supposed to be shown to public until it's unveiled at the next Local car show... (Next month) But meh, none of you people will be there so hey hahah, anyway here's the story....
Once upon a time... blah blah blah..cut to the chase, The local Car club i'm in came up with the idea, instead of making a banner to peg up infront of the club display at shows..
We (They) brainstormed the idea of getting a bonnet and airbrushing it as a banner bonnet instead... good idea huh?
No haha It was up to me to do haha
so I got to scribbling a design down... Then I designed it again and it came out better, so out came the brushes and after about 16hours over 2 days
I created this... Enjoy
Slowly learning the ways of the ancient art..

looks awesome jeza and holdendude.
keep it up.
hopefully can attempt this soon.
want to airbrush/stencil my helmet into a turtleshell like design.
would i need to sand the whole thing or can tiny stripes be sanded?
and other then tape is there anything else that can stick down good to make straight edges?
and is there anywhere to get logos etc stencil cut ot just a craft knife and paper be the best option?
Thanks mate
Good to see, best bet would be to sand the whole thing down, makes for an easier & quicker time.
3mm or 6mm Fineline/Vinyl tape by 3M is good for that sort of stuff..... Depending of the complexity of the logo, printing it onto some paper and cutting it out should be fine.. but for a cleaner finish look without getting overspray float under the paper, cut out the logo on the paper, lay down some tape, airbrush the logo onto the tape, then cut the tape to use as a stencil. I've used this method abit and works a treat.... Aslong as you make the edges straight/round properly haha otherwise it'll look off in some spots.
Hope that helps? If you didnt understand it, i could make a tutorial with pics if nessacary?
"Dr. Jones, at your cervix."
na that helps greatly.
ive also heard of something called frisket. may be worthwhile finding where to get it.
even read that those plasticy folder dividers can work well.
to cut/use as a stencil
i was thinking of something like this. (troy lee gp history helmet)
but put it in diff colours or so in the turtle shell design. or scatter it a bit.
just something to have a go on.
even if it means doing some practice first would be good.
actually have my old stack hat sitting about. could be worthwhile having a go on first
So today was the unvieling at the show, this is a pic from early setup, got lots of attentiong from bypassers!
