hey guys,
been painting a fuel door, layed down the primer, rubbed it down and went to go prepwash before colour, keeping in mind that i borrowed the prepwash off the old man and it stripped the primer right off.... thinking its actually thinners? is this possible?
sounds to me like you're using acrylic primer, so yes it is possible.
FECK! so if im using spray packs (which are enamel) what should i use to clean the surface?
The prepsol is too active, use metho, sigh, I don't like suggesting it but since your only using pressure packs just do it in a wax on wax off fashion I.E apply with one rag (damp) then dry off with a clean rag.
Yes but prepsol is a more active solvent, rather it contains more active solvents so when you wax it on it will start to eat into the alkyd based pressure pack paint he is using, then it will be blistering up and comming off.
Metho or alcohol is allot less likely to do this.
mate i'm not sure how much prepsol ur puttin on there but ive never had any trouble with wipin over pressure pack primer with it i always just wipe on n wipe off, much easier n u dont end up with it stuck down in any cracks like if u were to spray it on then wipe off if u know wat im sayin, u 100% sure that aint thinners ur usin?? lol
