Question Opinions required in helping me chose what color caliper and drum paint. #

Hey guys I'm going to be spraying my calipers Red.
I have Already bought 3M RED CALIPER PAINT AND 3M clear coat.#

Iv been reading several posts now.
Any advice ud like to share let us know

Q1) Shuld I paint #the calipers while there attached. What are the disadvantages and advantages?

Q2) What color Shuld i do the roters / disks / drums as they are abit rusty and look crap. Lol

I was thinking either red or gloss black or silver.#

Q3) Is one 400ml can or Red enough for all four calipers? How many Coates will I get out of the one can?
I only want the bright red color so I guess I'll only need bout two Coates of red then the clear coat on top.#

If anyone has pics of their calipers and drums attach it below to help me decide on the colors.#

Thanks for your input in advance guys.#

    Cheers#

    ok seriously:
yes, to do it properley you need to remove the calipers and rotors. avoid getting paint on the rotor braking surface at all costs, that heat proof paint will chew out your pads in no time. so lots of masking take all over the rotor, then with a razor blade, cut away the area you want to spray. you only need 2 good coats of heat proof paint to do the job. clear is not necessary, and if anything will peel off with the heat. the red comes out glossy as all hell anyway. 1 can of hight temp red will easily cover all of your calipers. then i suggest gun metal grey for the rotors.

I have done mine red, Navy blue and black over the years.

Black was thwe only colour I was ever happy with.

First time I took them off, the remaining times, left them on car and masked up well. I wouldn't bother pulling them off.

and Black would be my suggestion for the centre "drum" on the rotor

    Cheers for the reply guys.

Voodoo, I thinks that's what I may be doing, red calipers with a gloss black for the drum hub.

Do you have a few pics youd like to attach?
    That would be great.

I have nothing from when the car had red calipers and black drums.

My new SV6 will be in my hands within 2 weeks and it's one of the first jobs I have planned (but black on black)

Ok well I finally got around to painting my calipers red and my hubs gloss black.

Looks much neater than the dirty rusty look before.

12 hours of hard work paid off in the end.

    Here are a few snaps.

    Thanks for everyones input.

I don't think you're meant to paint the parts of the rotors that come into contact with the brake pads :/

    Other than that looks good.

    Thanks man.
I was painting the hubs cause they were rusted and looked crapy.
The contact surface was back to normal after a few brakes applied.

Good colour scheme, but unfortunately you've just rooted your pads.

The paint that now lines your brake pads has made them quite inefficient, I believe someone said that up a bit further.
