VS Bonnet paint help.

Hi guys,

Looking for some opinions with what to do with the paint on a 96 Executive s2 wagon. I'm not exactly sure of the colour code but the bonnet has been absolutely wrecked, It was my family car for a long time and I've just inherited it, But we've taken care of it. I've seen a few VS bonnets in the same condition, was there something wrong that year? Anyway Would it be best to get it re-sprayed (Vic) or look for a bonnet at a wreckers in the same colour? A standard metallic VS dark green.

get it resprayed, cause its a metallic most other bonnets wont match 100%, and they may be more faded etc.

Yeah that sounds the better option. Around how much would I be looking at for a bonnet respray? I suppose everywhere will quote me differently. Are there any recommended places with prices?

Just checked the VIN plate and colour code was C061 which on the internet comes up as 'Sherbrooke green'. I should get a photo of the bonnet up soonish Cheers guys.

Looking at that.. If was me personally id do bonnet and blend guards , if rest of car is good chances are mos places gonna rip that right back , hi fill bonnet and paint , if u wanna go job get guards blended also , will look alot nicer and colour will match alot better

wow, wasn't expecting that kind of money for that job. I might have to sacrifice the blending and just get the bonnet fixed up. I'll ask around some shops, see what they would do for me.

and i thought my bonnet on my vs was bad *same colour* its only got the tinest little spot

haha yeah mate. I asked my parents why it happened and got a funny answer out of it, a bat shit on it one night and ate away at the duco, and ever since its snowballed. Dads getting onto his panelbeater mate for a spray so hopefully it comes out alright.

On my VE for a bonnet respray (just minor bird crap burn ins that are bugging me), strip, repsray and blend .... no quotes under $1000.

I've done a couple of vs bonnets in this colour at work. You can get away with just painting the bonnet, because of the curves on top of the guards, the colour looks different anyway. Just get the shop to give the guards a light cut n polish.
