Hi Guys,
I have to repaint my back window (it had rust holes) and i had to cut out the rust and get it back to bare metal where i could and treat everywhere else with rust converter then lots of bogging ofcourse!. Anyway now Im at the point where I need to repaint it.
First question is, since it has had previous rust should I/is there a primer that has rust inhibitors in it to ensure nothing can come back from the the repaired areas. (I was pretty thorough although and got back to bare metal in 99%) of the areas.
Second question is is the VP commodore just painted with a primer then the acryllic and thats it ? Or does it have a clear coat on it.
My father in law said only the metalic paints have clear coat on it. But it looks like mine does (VP with alaskian white) or is the acryllic just buffed until its shiny on the surface?
Also do you need a special primer for the bumper bars? Mines starting to crack and peel on the top. So I guess i need to strip it to the plastic then repaint it.
Im 99% certain it has a clear coat...
Yeah, see alot (my VP included) with the factory clear coat peeling off.
Yep vp has clear coat, and i think u need a special additive to put in paint when spraying plastic to help paint flex instead of cracking, best to go see a panel beater.
