hey all.i dropped my vt off yesterday to get a profesional cut and polish and some scratches touched up.i picked it up today and i'm discusted.here are a few pics of what i mean.i need some advice from someone that does this for a living or just someone that knows a fair bit abit doing a cut and polish and also applyin touch up pain.first the drivers side rear qtr panel has cracks all over it as you can see on the pic.the clear coat on top is fine so what would've caused this and as for the touch up paint job well see for yourself.SHIT.now when i took it in he said nothing about the touch up paint comming out a differant colour compared to the original paint and as you can see its not even smooth.i want to get some info from people on here who do it for a living or like i said knows alot about it before i take it back and go off my head.the car is alittle dirty from ash as you can see in the pics but you can def see where they have touched it up.also there is white shit all over the black moulds on my car.
Hmm, How much did this cost, Just curious...

it appears that this professional job was done by a 2 year old.
LOL!!!! did you expect it to be??? only way to get that smooth is to sand the whole thing back and respray it. or is there some magical paint now that can fill .5mm? you can probably mix some hardner with the basecoat and do a few layers with a touchup brush, but you would need around 3 or 4 hours to fill it completely then sand the top off. and no itll never be the same colour.
i daresay the cracks are from bog inder the paint. there is 0 a detailer can do about that. and i cant make out what the middle pic is about. looks like a pic of your house.
looks like trails in the 2nd pic. no idea on the first pic but what ari666 said seems plausable and if they were any good as a detailer they would of taken paint depth readings and would of known that there had been a repair done in that spot and approched it carefully. 3rd pic of the gouge, not a scrach was never going to be a nice looking fix. sure they could of done a better job. me personally would not of tried to do it as it was never going to be up to a standard id be happy to send out.
some before and after pics would also help here and ones of better quaility if possible.
my advise would be to steer clear of anyone who calls it a cut and polish in the future. where are you located? i may know someone near by who can look after your cars in the future
Theres only so much a cut and polish can do. From the pictures of those scratches, I think its past the point of buffing them out.
However, looking at the surrounding paint, it doesn't look like a good job regardless.
Tip. If they spend any less than almost a whole day doing the job. Its not a professional job.
there is only so much a cut and polish will do, being stock paint it wouldnt have been rubbed back, it looks a bit dirty, but there is no swirl marks in the paint, the cracks look like an old repair, possibly the heat bought them out more visible and its really whoever did that repair's fault that it showed up, how was the guy that buffed it to know it was there ? the big chip was never going to be the right colour. they may have been able to fill it a little more, but it wouldnt have looked much diffrent.

any reputable detailer should have a paint depth gauge. the average car with factory paint has between 120-170 microns from bare metal to the top of the final coat. if it comes up with anything more that indicates that their has been a repair. is it the detailers fault? yes! if they had all the essential tools to do the job properly then this may not of happened. machine polishing over repair work can be a mine field and should always be treated with extra care.
ohh #### off, noone does that, its a ####ing commodore doesnt matter that much, get it fixed properly if your that worried about it.
