Default Any good welders/beaters in Newcastle want some quick cash?

    Hi,

I'm looking for a good welder who wants to earn a quick bit of cash for what I'm assuming will be a fairly quick job. I'm restoring a 1930 Willys Coupe and need a small piece of the firewall removed and a replacement welded in. I have a good replacment part to be welded in, but need someone who can do a good job of it, which isn't me. I don't really want the hassle of having to hire a trailer and move the car (which is disassembled) for such a small job. I have a small gasless mig welder if that's any help.

PM me if you are interested/able to help.

    Thanks.

I'll ask my Panel Beater at work tomorrow if he would like some quick cash over the weekend. He does a top job at what he does.

lol@the gasless mig comments. a willys jeep is made of 2.8mm steel in most places. you could safely use an arc to weld those panels

OP, ever considered just hiring a mig and giving it a go yourself? gassed migs are easy as pie to use, especially on something made out of real steel. you can hire migs for a day. jump on google. you may/may not save money but at least you can say you gave it a shot.

HMMM i guess there's quite a few people 'round who don't actually know HOW to use a gassless mig.

I've got one that i've been useing for years and i'd challange anyone to a "weld Off" LOL.

I got the gasless coz it was given to me and ive always wanted to learn to weld. I would try myself, but its in a spot that carries a
Support rod and is visible, so it needs to look good. Its not a jeep, its a 1930 whippet coupe, only thin steel.

haha, no dramas. I imagine the gauge of steel would be very similar if not slightly thinner than a jeep. The support rods hold the bonnet and bonnet sides up. Over the decades the metal weakens from the stress and cracks around the rod mount on the firewall, which has happened in my case.
