Spray painters advice ?
hey,ive go myself into abit of a situation and need abit of help,Ive preped my car for painting its sitting in grey primer its all been guide coated and is nice and stright ready to go. im painting in astroid silver and ive sprayed a few scrap panels and its hard too see the silver go on over the grey primer.so just woundering what my options are ? was thinking maybe putting a few more coats of primer on with a black tint ? or just spraying the whole car flat black? would either of these options effect the finish result ? im using du pont lucite 400 ...cheers

Its not uncommon for people to put a white or black underneath other colours. If its that hard to see i'd just put some cheap white on it then go with ur silver

Enough to make it not grey any more, so you can see your silver going on it better i guess. You should also bear in mind, once you spray a coat of silver, its gonna be harder to see where you've been again, and for the next coat and the next coat will be harder still. Maybe just stick to a uniform pattern and go from there. Just make sure that whatever u spray your nice silver onto is all flat n shit, no runs n stuff.

ok, just to save you a lot of time, effort and money. go to bunnings and get 3 or 4 halogen spotlights. you need at least one fluro tube and a couple of halogens. set them up at all different angles and as you are spraying, get your head down so you can see the spotlight in the sheen coming off the gun, the three different types of light (sunlight, fluro tube and halogen) shine a different type of light and will help show how the metallic is sitting, so you can go back over spots that are not right. its a lot harder than starting with an oche or black base, but youve done it now, and IMO this would be the easiest way.
