how long do i wait till i coloursand acrylic

finished painting my bonnet today in acrylic with a clear topcoat theres a few stuffups as it started raining and water drops flowed along my garage door and right on my just finished bonnet (weather was great when i started) its not that bad but i want to try and coloursand it and cut and polish any imperfections out of it but need to know when the paint has gone hard enough to rub it back and polish it how long does it take before i can do this ..

I've been told a couple of weeks, or as long as you can wait to do it; To let it fully shrink back.

Not sure how true that is...?

With acrylic generally 24 hours is long enough. I have color sanded and buffed acrylic the same day I've painted in the past. Just very cautiously.

thanks fellas ive sanded it back already waiting for a real nice day to respray it, the sudden change in weather stuffed the paint i just done.
