so have been looking through catalogues to add to my air compressor collection (bought a compressor with 3 guns and hose etc from supercheap for $200, 50L tank and 180L per min air delivery)
found this sandblaster from Supercheap which is about $34 and looks like a gravity fed spray gun. (click link)
Sandblaster
so my question is would one of these work very well? (600ml capacity on top of gun)
where do you buy the sand for it from (i doubt its the case of go to the beach and take your buckets and spades)?
and any other info that you could give.
oh and do they work on plastics?
or is it strictly metals only?
thanks in advance.
Im keen to know too.
You would need to build yourself a decent enclosure to use it in.

They will work on anything but it just uses different mediums for different application i.e soda, glass, walnut shell or sand. Its only 50 bucks so why not just buy one and find out? The only thing i could see wrong is that you would be constantly refilling it.
yeah ill probably do that.
i finally have 1 saturday off so i might go scope out some more tools at proper tool shops this weekend.
when i brought home the compressor and spraygear i was like ill respray your car mum (has some rust because someone cut and polished it wrong once)
and she was like "yeah paint it zebra stripes" so if you see a car with very faint zebra stripes (so its subtle not like black/white) you can blame me =P
and when you said about a trap to catch the sand is this to reuse it or so it doesnt go everywhere?
and would the amount of sand in that run out really quickly?
That compressor has no where enough air delivery to run a sand blaster. Even one that small. You'd get a better result by filling your mouth with sand and blowing it through a maccas straw.
for future reference, total tools, hare and forbes, radium etc all sell sand for sandblasters.
