So I've decided I'm going to make a start on the interior this weekend, as i've gone from the standard center dash panel and stereo surround found in the utes to the bits and pieces and centre console found in a sedan, I have a few missmatched colours throughout the interior.. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on the best brand of paint for both plastic and vinyl, I really don't want it flaking off or becoming sticky on the first 40 degree day.. also any tips on prep would be great..
And don't worry I'm not doing any crazy colours that will make me bring up my wheatbix when I look at it for more than 30 seconds.. just nice and simple dark grey/black with some lighter highlights here and there..
thanks

there is a couple ways you can do it. The first is using vinyle dye/ plastic paint. You will need to clean all the parts VERY well with wax and grease remover to get all the crap off other wise it will just peel off. Buy some plastic primer and use that after you have cleaned and dried the parts . then top coat with plastic dye or plastic paint. The other way is use a spray gun. I have used 2K high fill primer and it fills in all the little lumps and you can smooth it right out for a smooth finsh with sand paper. I will be using a 2k top coat on mine. You could even go as far as putting a clear coat over to protect, but you dont want it to shiny because then glare would be a issue. What ever you do just make sure you clean/prep it good to get all the oil and crap off other wise it will be a big fail and crack, peel and whip off.

After a bit of research it looks like VHT is by far the best, so I think I'll go with that on the vinyl to begin with... Seriously considering a nice smooth 2-pac for the lower areas that wont give me too much glare (center console, glovebox, fuse cover and center dash panel etc.) keeping in mind that I'm booked in for a dark (legal) tint job this week, I think Ill do well with a clear coat..,. Thanks for the info fellas, you've given me everything I need to know..
