    Default Respray job shopping list

So I plan to respray my VG ute over christmas, its pretty not straight at the moment...so time will tell if i get around to laying paint on it before i have to go back to work (lol)....But i just yesterday stripped the bonnet bumper and guards headlights and a door off a vs i paid 250 for, and then scrapped for 170. So 80 bucks aint a bad price to pay for all my panels =) Especially considering i needed a door cos i destroyed mine after locking keys in the car...and that woulda cost me 50+ anyway. So its going to be an updated VG, with a VS front end on it.

That's the ute as it is. the photo doesn't show it but there isn't a straight panel on it, and there's rattlecan touchup paint all over it, its that bad that if i wash the dirt off it washes touch up paint off and the things comes out of the car wash looking worse than when it went in.

The colour is remaining white, i'll be giving a curtesy spray to under the tub liner and behind the seats in the front but not putting too much effort into those areas. Im planning on putting a pearl in the clear, still haven't decided which pearl im tossed up between a gold or silver, and im also tossed up between ghost shimmer or crystal ( the particles get bigger in that order while the ghost is more subtle the crystal creates more of a glitter effect whilst still remaining opaque enough to not block out the white underneath [unless you put too much on...])

So I have a shopping list...sort of worked out. Im going to be starting with just bog and sandpaper and a speedfile...cos that's where all the work is gonna be anyway. If anyone with experience could flesh out my list a bit or point out glaring holes in it it would be much appreciated...I'll put some prices down too for anyone interested and i should mention i will be painting in acrylic...coz i like my lungs.

    4L white $182
    5L clear $70
    4L fill primer $55
    20L thinners $97
    3.5L bog $30
    Speedfile $37
Sandpaper.......... 80 to 150c a sheet less in bulk...probably less in a roll from bunnings

prepwash is 33 bucks for a 4l tin as well...

buy your sand paper from the body shop or a paint supplier ,
have you got a sander? Stanley Air Sander, 6" - Supercheap Auto Australia
spend a bit more on paint the concept brand form the body shop Ive had reasonable success with.
Id buy 4 liters of primer and 4 of pimerfill and 6 of white if doing the whole ute. It wouldnt worry me to have a liter or so of each left over.
Along with a litre of plastic primer clear you all ready have.
A shit load of paint stripper and steel wool . I only strip panels away from the car not the body sand that.
If you can see the mark in the primer you will see it in the color

Ahhhh, no sense of adventure. Nothing quite like coughing up half a lung first thing in the morning.
