    Default painting a dash?

so i have a dashboard here for my silverado, and its in raw plastic. the dash doctor wants an arm and a leg to cover it with leather, so was wondering what my options were as far as painting it is concerned.

im pretty sure any 2k i have here will flake pretty easily, is there a matte(ish) paint i could use? it would need to be super-heavy duty due to day to day use.

    im stumped.

Alsa Corp. do a soft feel matte paint. It's got a soft rubbery feel to it even though it's paint. I think it's used as a motor bike tank protector so it would be pretty hardy.

You "should just leave it in raw plastic."

Yeah this stuff is awesome. I used it on my bike tank and fairings. Its amazing stuff. $240 per litre but. A flattened acrylic clear would be nice. Being inside the car it will last longer then being on the outside. Spray a plastic primer and you can paint any kind of normal paint on it. 2K shouldnt flake, I have painted an engine cover in 2K and its still perfect after Months.

Ari use acrylic mate. Put a coat of plastic primer down then over thin the colour so its like water and just haze the paint on till its covered. Dont put heavy coats on as it will
crack down the track. Film build is the key here you want the lest amount possible.

This is just me but I would use the mixing ratio as per manufacturer instructions as they know best. (acrylic is 1 part paint to 1.5 thinners) and apply the paint the same way as the outside of the car plastic bumper bars painted correctly will not crack or peel.
I would also use grey scotchbrite and some scuffing paste to prep the plastic. Then use an antistatic cleaner.
3 coats of plastic primer then 3 coats of colour and clear.
I am painting interior parts for someone next week and this is how I will be doing it. But with 2 pack.
Ill be making a step by step video of it.
