So I'm going to buy a VX Senator body kit for $680, VX Bobtail for $320 and a Roof wing for $200 off eBay, these are all fiberglass part's with gel-coat. I called up some smash repairs, and they quoted me $1200 just for the kit (front back and skirts).. Does this sound right? I'm fairy sure I could prep it, undercoat it and spray it all myself, but that would require a colour match from Autobarn.
My Question, would anyone do it for cheaper, if not would it be worth doing it myself? I'm not too flash with a spray gun but my dad's resprayed panels before.
Thanks.
I could just buy the Genesis Blue paint, some undercoat, some sandpaper, a spraygun and a compressor, some sheets and an old tent frame? And it'll probably end up cheaper..
Got a mate that will spray it for you, pm me your number, he's a professional painter and will do cashies on the weekend.
I'm doing a similar thing with my VX got an SS kit it's all plastic genuine though but it is cheaper to do it yourself.
I will admit I have Dad helping who's a pretty handy painter but I just brought all I needed except for the compressor we've got a monster of a one in the shed.
And it's cost less the $100 for all that now justing waiting for the weekend.
But in saying this $1200 is a bit rich for my liking I got quote $400 of Dads mate but that was mate rates I guess lol
Anyways got luck with it but it all depends on the quality you want because you do get what you paid for.

Thanks 51Will have to order the kit first, but it'll take me a few week's to save for, and I have a few projects first. But I will do when the time comes.
@ M1L, yeah my dad's going to set up a booth with me and we were just going to paint each part that way, I'll look into it more when I get the money :X
I figure if im doing some I might as well do the entire car...
So I figured out my Paint code is B093, do I just take that somewhere and they will give me so much of that? Or do I need another code? B093 seems a little short :S It's Genesis Blue I believe. I figure I'll need 5-6 Liters.
Nah mate all you need is the B093 and just take it into a car shop most do mix paint pretty sure supercheap and repco do could be wrong and tell them the code and how much you want and they will mix it up for you.
They may ask the car you have I've been asked a few times and the colour (gensis blue) and they will have the code on the computer and you just confirm.
Either way a pretty simple task. All the best with it mate.![]()

Sounds like a plan,
I'll have to dedicate a weekend to it, i'll do a closed door spray. cover windows/wheels, so on so forthThanks again for all the help.
Dedicate a bit of time to getting the kit to fit good too, no matter what the ad says, they never fit 100%.
