Hey there
So my bonnet is in need of some love, the clear coat has scratches in it and I've got some damage at the front where a 4wd reversed into me. I've removed the dent and filled it with body filller and sanded it fine and hit it with some cheap touchup paint, looks crap.
I own everything i need to repray the bonnet properly, im just wondering if its worth sanding the whole bonnet back and spraying the whole thing, or should I just sand back the touched up area and do that section?
Another question is, can i just sand back the clear coat, do a coat of colour and then do clear? Or do I have to sand back further before i can paint?
Thanks for Any help

Dont do a half arsed job, you will regret it. Do it once do it right.
Do the whole bonnet mate
Buy a good bonnet for a hundred bucks. Done. No stuffing around. It's just a VS

Hey mate. You can scuff the whole bonnet with grey scotch brite and scuffing paste. Then spray the colour over the repair only. Try and blend it by spraying a larger area with each coat.
Try not to paint the colour to the edge of the panel. This way if the colour is different it wont be noticeable.
Then clearcoat the whole bonnet.
The clear should stick to the scuffed up surface and hide the scratch marks from the scotchbrite.
Thanks for the replies
Scuffing the whole bonnet and blending the repair sounds a lil tricky but will def look into it. Full bonnet respray seems to be popular so will consider it.

hope it goes well for ya. The reason painters dont do edge to edge painting on panels is because its very hard to get the same colour. And if they end up with two panels that are noticably different they will get complaints.

I would go to a wreckers $50-$80 your done no peel no fade or clear comeing off. Saves colour matching and stuffing around just bolt on.
