i was wanting to touch up a scrape on the lower front bumper of my vt to hold me off until i can afford a proper respray. i thought..... ill go to holden to get the right color by the code. i noticed after i got home with the cans from holden that the spraypack can states 1k. i was assuming that vt where painted in 2k. and, have since read about how its a bad idea to spray 1k over 2k. does anyone know why holden spares would have mixed me a 1k can? i assume i have to bin all the holden cans and go to a paint shop and rebuy. can holden do 2k spraypaks? i am thinking if so, i should have grounds for a refund or exchange maybee. this will annoy me if its a muckup as preston motors has a specific paint section next to spares, so they should know whats up.
Spraycan?? I got some touchup from Holden and its in a little bottle, with a brush tipped lid. The same size and style as a nail-polish bottle.

Now with my very own Tech2....YAY.
All touch up paint, regardless of whether it's spray can or bottle, is 1k not 2k.
but tough to get 2k in a can isnt it? you'd have about 20 mins to spray b4 it turned into glue
Alsa corp do one. Single use. Crack the seal that releases hardener shake, spray & throw.
Go see eastern auto paints in bayswater or Milsons auto paints in ferntree gulley. They'll match to your car and chuck it in a pressure pack for you
Yup- 1k. I went to holden to get a phantom black touch up for a front bumper scrape. They didn't have any, Told me that they weren't anticipating getting anymore (problems with paint supplier and not using them anymore). So the holden rep told me to go to autobarn and ask them to make one up. They matched it perfectly. and will supply it in either a pot with brush or in a spray.
What you have will be fine. From my understanding you can put 1k over 2k but not the other way around. And its only tempory untill you respray it properly anyway
i got one little bottle with the brush as well as the spraycan at holden. the bottle was 10 buck and the can was about 25.
maybee i misread, as i though i read cant spray 1k over 2k?? i only got to year 8 at school. thats my excuse and im sticking to it
if im going to get a 2k respray soon though, i think im best not to use it on the car at all now actually. if i do, i think it might cause problems or higher cost for the respray.
looks like the back garage doors is getting a blowover with holden colors
thanks for the info everyone. interesting stuff.
I have put 2k primer, colour, and clear in a spray can with our machine at work. They all lasted over 2 weeks. Thats all with hardener mixed in. they sprayed perfect each time I tested them. im pretty sure the touch up paint holden give you is a basecoat that dries flat.

i guess ill go for it then. its doing my head in looking at it
