A friend told me VL's were easy to turbocharge because they have Nissan engines. I want to turbocharge my straight 6 VK. Or is it easier to put a VL engine in first? Any thoughts?![]()
Is your car efi or carby?

he has the same idea, and is turboing a 202 EFI
Yeah the engine uses a carby. It also has an auto transmission. Is it a stupid idea to turbocharge an auto? I checked out that link, seems pretty serious, I was hoping to keep it simple. Thanks for the link.
to be honest you would be better of putting a small blower on it there cheep and easy to put on will give you noticable grunt without costing fortune .blower of toyota they sell on ebay from 250-350
Ive seen a few VK turbo's, i thought there was a handful manufactered off the line
keep checking ebay ull find a hole kit for around 1700 bucks i think theres one on there atm
Nothing to say you can't do it other than your bank balance.. Small supercharger would be the go , but not as upgradable as a turbo set up..
Mike Vine Turbochargers or similar name from Capalaba in Brisbane is an absolute lengend with Holden straight 6's and turbochargers. Its a piece of piss really, just fork over the dollars and the old six will roar like the space shuttle
yeah you can turbo it and ebay would be the place to look, but first go and see an expert and see what turbo the sugest
my web sitestuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!

looks good, must go good, must suond good too. definately potential idea..
You can Turbo just about any motor if setup right including lowering the compression.
When the VH Commodore was on the market ther were Ads everywhere regarding turbos to suit.
One guy had developed a kit specifically for the Torana Hatch. I can't recall if he was selling complete cars or just fitting the turbo. All I can recall is that he stated the 186 red motor was the best to use and with the base kit (low boost) the Torana would do 0 - 100Km/h in 8.0seconds.
Definately see an expert first though ( he or she will tell you to replace the gearbox as it can only just withstand the standard output).
