Mate 308's are worth sweet FA nowadays, might be better off dropping one in and making your Group 3 Mock up look and sound alot more real.

If not, i dunno, turbo it?

get a good head, some big valves, rollers, cam, and either a 465 holley or even better a set of triple webbers, once you set them, they stay tuned, unlike triple su's, or you could go for the injection that came out on the vk's. 5000 will get you a very stout motor, the 4,6&8 shop can lead you in the right direction, Dave adams is the man in adelaide

Nah. That must've been another one. Coz I wasn't even reading sreat machine back in 2000 lol.

There's a more recent one. 300hp I'm fairly sure. Although 200 would still be nice......
Any idea how much it cost to get to that spec?

Honestly? No idea, I haven't been looking at that side of things with the 202.

Fair enough. Nor would I be if it wasn't for the P plate laws lol.

Leigh0705 - DO you know roughly how much it might cost to get all that work done?

crank $around 500 on ebay but im prity sure an engine rebuilder could do this not sure how much rods around$500 port $400 i think cam and lifters probarly $400 balance $200 itll cost a fare bit then you got acl race series gasket kit $500 plus machining double row timing kit $150 probarly a few more that i have forgotten as you can see not cheap

Gees, thats probs around 3 grand.

Well 202s had 86 kw standard, so those mods would probs bring it up to around 150? dunno, just a random guess.

lol $500 for stock rods that are the same as blue and black motor? Gotta be a joke.
Lifter and cam wont cost more than 200. Dont waste time on porting heads either get a yella terra or use a 12 port efi one.
Balance bottom end is likely to cost $250-$350 depending on your rod crank and piston combo.
You could get a race series rebuild kit for not much more than $500 maybe $700
double row timing kit WTF??? they run helical cut gears that mesh together either get a nice aftermarket set of them or go some striaghts if you want a bit of noise. Cost about $100 or less.

    Machining wise your looking at
    $200 for bore and hone
    $90 to deck block
around $300 plus to line hone crank and cam tunnel
depending on the head you have and what needs doing can cost up to $500 but you could get a reco stock one for half that price
throw in the bottem end balance your looking at a total of $1200-$1500 for all the machine work
another $1000 for all the parts and it $2500 then you either assemble yourself or pay someone to do it.

Best way to make more power is to build a decent 12 port motor use a yella head and some flat tops run a decent cam and run efi manifold with aftermarket ecu should make 100rwkw or there about with that.

Stock efi made around the 117kw mark and theres some big gains to made just with an aftermarket ecu

Gees, there's still a fair bit of money involved. $2500 upwards.

And another thing I have to factor in is that I will be governed by the new P plate laws. But then again the cops won't really be able to tell that my motor is that modified will they? Are the YT heads look exactly the same as the stock ones?

And another thing, if I get my motor rebuilt I would probs build it so that it can run on GAS or Unleaded or probably both.

If the time comes, I'll probs just rebuild it to fairly stock specs, maybe a cam or something, I dunno, we'll see when the times comes.

    Thanks for the info Pub!!

yella terra look stock beside mainly yellow paint doesnt mean they got to be yellow though you wouldnt be able to tell with out removing manifolds though double valve springs might indicate performance.
If your going gas or unleaded a dissy regraph will be in order. My last 202 in the vh had that much compression and the original dissy that it was utter rubbish unless i put 98 in it and itd still ping even then.

Buy an exchange head is the easiest and cheapest way to run gas hardened seats and valves in it so recssion doesnt become an issue

blue black and efi ones have minor differences depending on which model it came from some say efi flow a little better but i doubt they do only main difference is they dont have the air injection ports on exhaust which could improve flow slightly. Hence why i said get an efi one.
Blue you have two main types with the 173 aka 2.85lt head and the larger 202 aka 3.3lt head. I put a blue 173 head on my VH and rebuilt the yella terra one on it the compression was crazy with flat tops so i suggest not doing that
