cheers man. I saw a VS drive past the other day with a sunroof and it looked amazing. wanted one every since lol.
I think they're about $1500-2000 installed new, so I should be able to save a bit getting one secondhand

i see. im a panel beater ive seen people try and put sun roofs in them selfs and #### it up so make sure its done propely

I know this doesn't help you source a second hand one, but just for your comparison, mine cost $2200 supplied and fitted by Webasto head Office in Sydney. I had the Hollandia 700 fitted (fully electric tilt/slide etc.). Been smiling ever since
If you do want to go with a second hand one, try and find one still in a car at a wreckers or find someone wrecking a commodore with one etc (also to test functionality). For the ease or removing it id just cut the roof out or chop through the pillars to get it home and let your installer remove the unit from the original roof skin. I say this because seperating the two must be done very carefully because if you distort it, this shape will be copied in your roof when the sunroof is fitted and will never look neat if its got any wrinkles in the panel.
I would however recommend installing a new one for the price difference considering most pro's are still going to charge between $800-1200 just to install. Based on this, and when you add the cost of a second hand sunroof, say $300, for an extra $600 you'll have a new one.
Just my thoughts as it's the way I decided to go. Sorry to get a bit off topic

Thanks for the advice mate, I am looking into that as well. Havent found anyone that does it in my area though may have to go to melbourne.

I did alot of research on companies that install them before I got mine done. If you're willing to travel to Melbourne, Sunroof Centre has a very good rep! Usually need the car for 1.5 days.

sunroof centre uses so much urithane to stick the sun roofs in..... its rediculous.... thats just what ive seen.
