Hi all,

Long time lurker here. Hoping someone can shed some light on an issue I'm having with my 6L80E Just recently (over the past few days) I've been having a problem where the Auto tranny doesnt engage Drive propery - Have done some searching but no avail. Basically when you move the shifter from N to D it stays in Neutral but if I move is back to N and shove it into drive with some force it goes into Drive (and shows D selected on the Dash Display) and drives like normal. Checked the Trans Oil - all good there.

Let me know if I've missed anything.

Cheers,
Steve.

Have had the transmission serviced, still not change - does ANYONE know what might be causing this??
I also noticed that when I put the car into active select, it randomly just out "active select off" message. It just puts itself back into normal drive.

Any help greatly appreciated, thanks.

Hi Brad,

No its weird, it keeps driving like normal. So what I've noticed is when I put the car into drive, it now drives normal but the car seems to forget it's in drive after a few minutes of driving. The "D" disappears from the Dash Indicator (but the car continues to drive as normal - all gear changes are fine), but I get no active select or cruise control. No warning lights or anything, just the "D " disappears from the dash indicator and I lose some features. At this stage I think I'll just take the car into a Transmission specialist. Anyone have any recommendations in Melbourne's west?

Thanks,
Steve

Give rvo automatics a call i think there in dandy, yea sounds abit different to what my auto was doing. Mine was also flaring between gears. Theere 6 speed autos are the worst auto ive ever owned. Thats why im half way through a manual conversion

I hear the TCMs fail alot, surely it is what tells the instrument cluster what gear to display? Whatever you do don't let a tranny place start blindly changing parts until it's fixed. I have bad flaring 2-3 and they wanted $1800 to change solenoids, with no guarantee of success. I've read online it might be bands, if it were I'd have wasted that cash...

Somerhing you can try is to disconnect/reconnect all the of wiring between the selector and the computer under the steering wheel...you may find a clue there

i thought the band was applied in second so dont see how it could be band. i cant remember whats applied in 3 but this is the joy of modern cars becoming harder to diagnose and more expensive parts.

I had the exact same problem. Bad flair between 2-3. 1 month later it was fucked
