Commodore vz 2006 executive
So recently over the last 2 days iv been having a battery issue in my commodore VZ 2006 executive causing my console to flicker alot while driving specifically at night. I replaced the battery and thought that it was fixed however unfortunately last night this proceded to happen last night after driving for about 20 minutes. I called the RACV however realised the abs pump was stuck on now and the hand break is also constantly considered up even when it's not (the hand breaks never worked however the sensor keeping it up or down does) the RACV managed to fix the shorting however the abs pump stays on still when the battery is connected and the hans break is considered up no matter what. Just trying to figure out what could be the possible cause.

It’s going to take some specialised equipment to find what wrong. The only other alternative is to load the parts canon.

Is the charge circuit working well?

The hand brake switch can get pretty grot. Start with cleaning that. It will require some of the centre console to be dismantled. The handbrake not working is a simple adjustment in the rear of the car. The switch and brake operation are unrelated.

As for the ABS unit, this is the hard part if you have nothing in the way of diagnostic tools.

Then only thing I suggest you can do is remove the battery (negative terminal first) and go through the whole engine bay cleaning the various earth points on the harness. There is an important one behind the battery. Clean with a small brass brush (Bunnings sell them for a few dollars). Rinse with CO Contact cleaner.

Poor, oxidised harness earths will cause no end of gremlins in the VZ and VE. So get that done and out of the way. It will either do nothing or it will fix a number of issues. It costs almost nothing to do and can be done by almost anyone.

Make sure they are all snugged up again before reconnecting the battery.

Get the wheels off and inspect around the ABS sensors to make sure they is nothing obstructing around the wheel to trigger the sensors.

You’re going to need extra skills and specialised tools to solve this.

All good ill try sorting the earthing issues, since cleaning the earthing line near the abs and the battery it seems to be keeping charge now. I have tried to clean the hand break part after taking it apart still showing the issue but I will try taking off the wheels and the sorts. Thank you for the advice ill give it a shot
