We are getting some good data, it appears that the 175 and 190 are similar for fuel economy.
The averages so far are:
City: 11.5
Highway: 9.25

I think my economy is improving the more kms I get.

Engine Type: Alloytec 190
Auto/Manual: Manual - 6 spd
Total kms done:~8000
City Economy (l/100kms): 10.5-11 (although my "city" driving doesn't really include a lot of stop-start)
Highway Economy (l/100kms): Dunno! Haven't done a highway run yet!
Fuel mainly used: Mobil P-ULP (not Synergy)

Pretty happy with the economy sofar - I give it a serve now and again, and it's still relatively new and tight. Interesting to see the other comments regarding the Alloytec "loosening up" after a while, as mine still seems to feel a little restricted. Much nicer feel at higher revs though than my previous Ecotec 3.8 (VT II S pack) I've been running the same fuel since I got the car (novated lease, fuel card) so I'm not able to comment on other brands.

Cheerz!

Just did a 2000km trip from here to Melbourne & back using Caltex Vortex fuel.

Fill 1 = 710km, 60.23L = 8.48l/100km
Fill 2 = 403km, 34.78L = 8.63l/100km
Fill 3 = 390km, 34.81L = 8.93l/100km
Fill 4 = 516km, 44.28L = 8.58l/100km

I was the only driver and the car averaged 79.9km/h for the 2019k's, and cruise control was used for most of it. The car has just clocked up 20,000km, so it's still relatively new (lol). I think I could get a little better economy but the figures are pretty darn good for 2 (Not so small) people, about 100kg of stuff in the car on the way down & 250-300kg on the way back, and I stuck to the signposted limits where I could.

The ecotec in my VY Wagon used to average about 11-12.5 around town and about 9-10 on the highway - so there is a slight change but not as big as I expected, but it might be due to the change from wagon to ute, different gearing or something? I just wish I could use all the fuel in my tank!
