Is there a possibility that PDF attachments can have their size increased from 244Kb to 1.5 Mb?

That would just like those photo sharing sites, when the poster removes them everyone loses them.

Storage costs money. Donating members get increased upload allowances so maybe you should consider this.

I'm now experiencing difficulty attaching jpeg images to posts. The size limit is around 443 kb and my photos are around 350kb, yet I receive messages telling me they are too large at 356kb. I haven't experienced this problem in the past but my last attachment took place a fair while ago and I can't recall any difficulties back then.

Can somebody advise me what I'm doing wrong please?

Or just use free online storage from places like postimage.org. Then use the embed image icon in any post and past the link to your pic in that.

Followed your advice re postimage but it hangs up at only 7% download. Tried four times. Same result every time.

try opening up your pic with paint, gimp or the liike , then re save it, this can sometimes cut the KB down to a uploadable size.

p.s. there might be a slide bar option for quality, i can't remember it's been years since I've edited
