I used to rent a garage which was at ground level and had an up and over door.
All the apartments had their own garage below something like this picture

If I were to open one garage door and drive along the concrete driveway parallel with the road with the perpendicular parking feature enabled, would the car be able to identify the garage opening as a suitable parking spot and back itself in?

Has anyone tried?

Like the joke says: She looked like a woman, she smelt like a woman, she felt like a woman, she kissed like a woman. But when she took me home to her apartment, and reverse parked into a very tight parking spot in a single go, I thought - hello, hello, hello !!!

The dealer demo'd the auto-park thing by reversing our car into a rear-to-curb spot between two spots with cars in them.
Can't see a single-car garage being much different in terms of stuff being detected by sensors.
I've not used the feature since we bought the car 18 months ago myself ...

You could start by having a good read of the Owners Manual. It usually contains such operating information. Good luck.

I'm fairly sure that my VF2 manual said that the Advanced Parking Assist could only do parallel parking and perpendicular (90 degree) parking (which I took to mean going forward). It's a real bummer not having access to a machine readable or online version of the owner's manual. I'm similar to Forge, I've had my Gen-F2 GTS for six months now and haven't been game to give it a try.

Just read my manual, both parallel and perpendicular parking are performed by reversing.

The other issue you might have in a garage like your post, is that the parking assist will probably park in the middle of the space. You may need it to park more towards the passenger side so that you have more clearance to open the drivers door.
