[SA] Car rego transfer - personalized plates

im about to sell my car and it has personalized plates.
do i have to switch them to normal ones or does the buyer do that when they lodge the transfer of regestration

I believe you have to get standard ones again and hand back the personalised plates.

Obviously like everything Government related, you need to pay to do this.

Why do you want to get rid of the plates? Put standard plates back on(you will have to pay to do that), and keep your other plates for another car.
And as Clair says, you will pay all ways with the Government.

i got different plates for my other car. i dont want to get rid of them im selling the car and dont want to sell it with the personalized ones

yeah i know you pay through the nose for stupid fees you shouldnt have to pay for.

ok looks like i might have to go down and wait at transport sa for another hr to get this dealt with

If you have a number plate agreement, you don't have to hand them back; they are yours to keep.

If you are selling the car, you have to re register it with "General Issue" plates.
