Catalytic converter

Have a V6 2002 statesman that was running Ok, but was wondering about the converter. The cars done 190000 klm. I still have an original type exhaust system but the guys at the exhaust shop were able to cut out the old converter, which when looking at it after, internally was stuffed. ( I didn't know this) Did the car go better. Like I put a turbo on it!! You could here the engine breathing, and getting better fuel economy. Best thing I ever did.

So you replaced a faulty cat converter with a new one? Is that what you're saying?

Yes, the old converter was cut out and the new one welded in place.
